Job description

We are seeking a Freelance Apparel Quality Analyst / Data Analyst to support product quality strategy within a fast-paced retail environment. This role will focus on data collection, customer insights, quality analytics, reporting, and cross-functional coordination. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and organized, with the ability to mine customer reviews, return data, and product performance information, then translate complex and unstructured data into clear, actionable insights for business leaders and senior executives.

  • Location: New York, NY (Hybrid - 3+ Days/Week Onsite)
  • Contract Duration: 6-8 Months
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Rate Range: $30/hr -$40/hr on W2
  • Only W2 Candidates, NO C2C

Responsibilities:
Data Mining, Analytics & Reporting
  • Aggregate and maintain data from multiple internal and external platforms.
  • Analyze customer reviews, returns, comments, and other feedback to identify product quality and customer satisfaction trends.
  • Develop and maintain reports tracking quality metrics, vendor performance, and product history.
  • Identify patterns and trends in product quality data and translate findings into actionable business insights.
  • Improve and streamline processes for collecting, analyzing, visualizing, and sharing product quality information.
  • Prepare data-driven presentations and summaries for senior leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between external partners, internal cross-functional teams, and senior leadership.
  • Communicate data findings, quality trends, and business insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality tracking and reporting processes.

Departmental Operations & Administration
  • Support departmental processes including budget tracking, invoicing, chargebacks, vendor manuals, factory approvals, and business continuity records.
  • Review, organize, and maintain incoming reports and documentation.
  • Schedule key meetings and maintain meeting recaps and action items.
  • Ensure departmental records and reports are accurate, organized, and up to date.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of relevant professional experience in data analytics, quality analysis, reporting, or a related field.
  • Required experience in the fast-paced retail industry, preferably within apparel or product quality.
  • Strong data collection, aggregation, analysis, and reporting skills.
  • Experience analyzing customer feedback, reviews, returns, or other product-related data.
  • Strong ability to translate complex or unstructured information into actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting data and insights to senior leadership.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable, and resilient in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work 3+ days per week onsite in the NYC office, particularly during onboarding and for close collaboration with CFTs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Apparel, fashion, consumer products, or product quality experience.
  • Experience with vendor performance or supplier quality data.
  • Experience creating executive-level reports, dashboards, or presentations.
  • Experience working with large or diverse datasets from multiple platforms.
  • Experience supporting quality assurance, product development, or merchandising organizations.
  • Strong Excel and data visualization/reporting skills.
