Job description

What you will be doing as an Access Control Technician:

 

Installation & Field Work

  • Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A, composite, and specialty cabling)
  • Install and support access control systems, including:
  • Door hardware, readers, REX devices, strikes, maglocks, and control panels
  • Video surveillance cameras and related infrastructure
  • Mount and install field devices per design drawings and manufacturer specifications
  • Pull, dress, label, and secure cabling in ceilings, walls, conduits, and pathways
  • Perform basic system validation and assist with commissioning and turn-up

Testing & Documentation

  • Test cabling using approved testing equipment and document results
  • Assist with as-built documentation, labeling, and close-out packages
  • Report field changes or design conflicts to the Project Manager or Engineer
  • Follow quality standards and installation best practices

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies, job-site rules, and OSHA requirements
  • Properly use PPE and tools at all times
  • Comply with local codes, licensing requirements, and customer site policies
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site

Collaboration & Professionalism

  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, clients, and other trades
  • Represent the company professionally while on customer sites
  • Support team members and assist with training less-experienced technicians
  • Participate in required safety and technical training programs

Required education, technical skills, and/or experience: 

  • Journeyman Lice ES-3J
  • 3-5 years of experience in the cabling and physical security fieldwork
  • Proven background in field installation, commissioning, or supervision of cabling and security systems
  • Strong working knowledge of standards and best practices for structured cabling and security systems integration
  • Familiarity with Verkada Platform
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a close attention to detail and a sense of urgency

Travel:

Travel is occasionally required for this position. Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance.
