What is a Free Fly job?

A Free Fly job typically refers to a role that offers flexible work arrangements, allowing employees to work remotely or with minimal location constraints. These jobs are common in industries like technology, consulting, and creative services, where tasks can be completed digitally. Employees in Free Fly jobs often have autonomy over their schedules, fostering a better work-life balance. However, they may require strong time management skills and self-discipline to stay productive.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Free Fly position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Free Flight Instructor (Free Fly), you need advanced skydiving experience, a specialized instructor certification from organizations like the United States Parachute Association (USPA), and strong safety awareness. Technical expertise with parachute systems, altimeters, and helmet cameras is also essential for both instruction and debriefing. Excellent communication, patience, and motivational skills are crucial for guiding students and ensuring a positive learning environment. These competencies ensure both student and instructor safety while maximizing progress and enjoyment in dynamic aerial maneuvers.

What can I expect from a typical day working as a Free Flight Instructor?

As a Free Flight Instructor, your day typically includes preparing and inspecting parachuting equipment, conducting ground training sessions, supervising student jumps, and reviewing flight footage for safety and technique improvement. You'll often work closely with other instructors and dropzone staff to ensure jump schedules run smoothly and safely. The work environment is dynamic, generally outdoors at skydiving centers, and requires adaptability to weather and operational changes. Instructors can expect a collaborative team atmosphere and opportunities to advance toward instructor examiner roles or specialized discipline coaching.
