ELEMENTARY TEACHER
Shrine Catholic Grade School is located in Royal Oak, MI at the corner of 12 Mile Rd and Woodward Avenue. Shrine Catholic Schools have been providing the highest quality Catholic education to the surrounding communities since 1938. Our mission is to “challenge our students to achieve excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, service to others, and leadership, all while giving glory to God the Father and exemplify the mission of Jesus Christ through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. All teachers who are catechist (teachers of religion) must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Design and implement lesson plans that integrate Gospel values into the core curriculum.
  • Apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners in a learner-centered and collaborative environment.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods of instruction.
  • Implement research-based practices including differentiated instruction.
  • Consistently create a high level of active student engagement and student-led learning.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process including iPads, Clever Touch boards and online instructional platforms, such as Freckle Math and Reading.
  • Use STAR testing data to target individual learning targets for students
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Code of Conduct, using a positive and proactive management system.
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport, rooted in faith.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, principals, colleagues, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly using FACTS.
  • Communicate updates with parents through weekly newsletters.
  • Must be able to lift up 25 lbs.
