#W2 Role Sr. Principal Engineer / Architect (Fraud Prevention Technology) Location: (PA / NC / TX / AZ) — Hybrid required Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder Role Overview The ideal candidate brings deep industry experience in banking, payments, or financial services, with strong architectural leadership and comfort operating hands‑on while influencing senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
  • Define the technical vision and multi‑year roadmap for fraud prevention across new and existing product lines.
  • Architect real‑time detection, decisioning, and response systems capable of scaling to Vanguard’s transaction volumes.
  • Drive adoption of AI/ML‑enabled development practices and embed intelligent automation into fraud operations.
  • Serve as the technical authority on fraud risk for new product launches (payments, debit, etc.).
  • Lead by example: write production code, conduct design reviews, and establish engineering standards.
  • Partner with product, risk, compliance, and data science teams to translate fraud strategy into executable architecture.
  • Mentor engineers and elevate team capabilities without formal management responsibility.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years in fraud prevention, payments, or banking technology.
  • Deep expertise in payment networks, transaction monitoring, authorization systems, or identity verification.
  • Proven experience architecting distributed, low‑latency systems in regulated financial environments.
  • Strong fluency in applied AI/ML, including model integration, LLM‑augmented tooling, and intelligent automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute technical strategy at the staff/principal/architect level.
