Job description

Overview

This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fraud risk strategies to detect and combat fraud across card and non-card products spanning consumer and commercial businesses while balancing risk mitigation with business and customer experience. Oversees management of all fraud models and partners with model developers, engineering and model risk management to ensure all models are compliant and continue to perform within expectations. Leads reporting and fraud analytics teams to review trends and patterns in complex data sets. Partners to develop innovative strategies that will mitigate current and emerging risks translating findings into actionable recommendations. Serves as a risk consultant, staying informed of knowledge of trends, regulations, and changes within the industry. Collaborates with industry partners, peers, and colleagues to influence fraud strategy and enhance controls. Fosters productive relationships at all levels across multiple lines of business and provide leadership and expertise to enterprise-wide projects to facilitate safe, secure operations for the Bank.


Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:
Fraud Risk Strategy - Spearheads the transformation of our fraud detection strategy and capabilities using advanced analytics, machine learning, and data science techniques to detect and prevent fraud. Develops and maintain repeatable and sustainable model risk management processes and key risk indicators. Develops and leads a fraud deconstruction routine to inform and influence strategy. Monitors and report on the effectiveness of fraud prevention measures.
Managerial Functions - Leads and develops a team of associates within the department. Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Makes appropriate changes to team policies and procedures to improve efficiency and achieve objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by coaching and providing professional development.
Business Support - Stays informed of current industry trends and standards, banking regulations, consumer protection and privacy laws, as well as the development of new products or channels. Tracks fraud data for reporting needs. Fosters productive relationships across the Bank and with key vendors. Develops and maintains a network of contacts at other financial institutions for information exchange and peer comparisons. Collaborates s cross- functionally to implement effective fraud strategies.
Project Management - Serves as a risk consultant in partnership with senior leadership, project teams, and business units on enterprise-wide initiatives. Facilitates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects. Participates in project-steering committees or councils to promote awareness and address potential risks.

Position Specific Skills:
Ability to quickly grasp new vendor software
Knowledge of bank systems
Familiarity with Bank policies, procedures, and practices including related industry and regulatory issues

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience in Fraud risk management, fraud detection, and data analytics, OR High School Diploma or GED and 16 years of experience in Fraud risk management, fraud detection, and data analytics,

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Risk Management, or related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in fraud risk management, fraud strategy, analytics, financial crimes, or related disciplines within a large financial institution.
  • 8+ years of management experience leading high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success managing fraud performance and loss mitigation programs in a large banking environment.
  • Experience developing and executing enterprise fraud strategies and roadmaps.
  • Proven track record of influencing senior executives and delivering measurable fraud loss reductions.

Preferred Experience

  • Master's degree (MBA, Analytics, Data Science, Finance, or related discipline).
  • Experience supporting Board and Executive Risk Committee reporting.

  • Knowledge of fraud detection technologies, machine learning applications, and advanced analytics techniques.
  • Professional certifications such as CFE, CRCM, CAMS, or equivalent.
