Acute Care Registered Nurse

Our Acute Care Registered Nurses ensure the well-being of our acute care patients. Our skilled nurses assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing practices and approaches based on the needs of each patient. Some of these vital responsibilities include:

  • Making or recommending necessary judgments with a patient's individual needs in mind
  • Establishing patient care goals and measuring health outcomes against these goals and standards
  • Teaching patients, family, and friends to understand the patients' conditions and necessary medication and self-care skills
  • Supervising and collaborating with other members of the nursing care team to ensure that each patient's needs are met
  • Documenting patient care
  • Adhering to medication administration and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, and infection control policies
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate degree as a Registered Nurse
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Idaho; current BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in acute care nursing preferred
  • Working knowledge of nursing, healthcare safety, state and federal regulations, and regulatory processes
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral, in the English language
  • Ability to manage, support, and work cooperatively with individuals and committees

Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist
  • Continuously performs difficult manipulative skills
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance
  • Frequently required to move/push up to 35 pounds, occasionally able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
  • This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision
  • Occasionally required to operate foot controls and lifts
  • Must comply with HIPAA to protect information that is sensitive, proprietary, or confidential
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain infection control standards set by the facility

Work Environment:

  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
  • Potential exposure to blood, body tissue, fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous waste
  • Occasional exposure to bodily injury, loud/unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, emotional or physical stress
  • May be required to work day or night in a confined environment or a variation of different temperatures
