Frank Beverage Group Transportation in Middleton, WI is now hiring a CDL Driver Trainee. The team members of Frank Beverage Group Transportation are committed, innovative leaders of the beverage industry through marketing, selling, distributing, merchandising, and servicing quality products to our valued customers. This position is designed for individuals with little to no experience operating a Class-A CDL motor vehicle. It involves participation in and successful completion of the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program, which provides essential knowledge and skills for safe, compliant commercial driving.
Trainees will receive hands-on instruction from a dedicated trainer in key areas such as CDL driving theory, vehicle inspections, vehicle backing techniques, and safe vehicle operation. If applicable, additional delivery-specific training will be provided by the delivery team to prepare trainees for practical driving and delivery situations.
A valid Federal Medical Card (FedMed) and a Class-A CDL permit are required to begin the program. Upon successful completion and obtaining a Class-A CDL, trainees will be eligible to move into a Delivery Driver role, based on position availability.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in all classroom and behind-the-wheel training sessions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices by achieving a minimum score of 80% on all exams.
  • Develops and refines behind-the-wheel driving skills under supervision.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on applicable vehicles daily.
  • Learn to maneuver equipment in various conditions and environments, including tight spaces and busy delivery areas.
  • Consistently apply safe driving techniques and follow company policies to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Learn and perform essential delivery skills, including the use of handheld computer devices, two-wheel hand carts, motorized pallet jacks, and other equipment necessary for efficient and safe deliveries.
  • Obtain a Class-A CDL by successfully passing the CDL driving test.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as pick lists, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
  • Prioritizes safety by consistently following DOT regulations, company policies, and best practices for vehicle operation and delivery procedures.
  • Comfortable operating handheld computer devices for delivery and vehicle inspection tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with strong self-motivation.
  • Works well in a team environment and independently when necessary.
  • Personable and approachable, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • Maintain a clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Must obtain a Federal Medical Card (FedMed) prior to starting.
  • Possession of a Class-A CDL permit required to begin ELDT program
  • A two-year CDL training repayment or employment commitment agreement is required upon successful completion of CDL training.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds, including up and down stairs, and occasionally lift up to 160 pounds.
  • Capable of sitting for extended periods while driving.
  • Ability to twist, turn, crouch, stoop, and squat repeatedly throughout the workday.
