We have an exciting opportunity to hire a Bakery & Dairy Applications Scientist for our Sweet Goods Team at the Development Center in Lebanon, Ohio! The Sweet Goods Scientist will be responsible for creating dairy & bakery-related application demonstrations using Mane flavors & technologies. The Scientist will choose the best flavors & technologies providing customer-winning solutions. This position offers the unique opportunity to execute on technical matters while establishing cross-functional teams & presenting / interfacing with external customers to support Sales initiatives. The position offers high visibility & the ability to highlight your technical prowess & creativity. A strong process-oriented background & management skills will be critical for success.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure laboratory activities meet/exceed technical, safety, and efficiency goals. Responsible to manage technical projects for MANE bakery & dairy customers. Ensure all project parameters (Project timeline, Regulatory constraints, pricing & technical merit) are achieved.
  • Responsible to build technically sound application prototypes utilizing MANE flavors & technologies. Provide input to Flavorist & Research & Development teams to create the best possible customer showings.
  • Responsible to choose best flavor selections for applications purposes. You will directly choose flavor selections & provide feedback to Flavorists & Commercial partners.
  • Responsible for organizing cross-functional & global teams to solve flavor & food applications challenges.
  • Support Sales initiatives by presenting MANE capabilities at customers &/or at targeted technical / commercial conferences.
  • Responsible to support Library initiatives & strategic Research & Development projects.
  • Responsible for cross-training staff members & learning to create all ranges of applications in a food environment.
  • Responsible for identifying new capabilities, technologies & introduction into the laboratory environment.
  • Remain current with advances in application processes, commercial dynamics & competitor products / technologies.
  • Liaison with external vendors to improve application bases & knowledge of new application introductions.
  • Motivated to win business through success with projects and meeting customer needs.
  • Self-Starter – Actively seeks new and better ways to perform duties.
  • Proficient technical skills with formulation, raw materials, flavors, and product processing.
  • Proficient experimental design skills, market product knowledge and competitive intelligence.
  • Proficient with Customer interactions and presentations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Food Science or Nutrition; combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of dairy & bakery product development experience.
