Job description

Total Frac Solutions (TFS)

Surface Solutions Provider Specializing in Hydraulic Fracturing Equipment Rentals and Services

Location: Houston, TX or Midland, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time

About Total Frac Solutions

Total Frac Solutions (TFS) is a leading surface solutions provider in the completion segment of the upstream oil and gas sector, specializing in frac trees and pressure control equipment. We offer tailored surface rentals and services designed to deliver reliable, sustainable, and cost effective solutions for frac operations across key U.S. basins like the Permian. With facilities in Houston, Texas, and Midland, Texas, TFS is committed to operational excellence by reducing risk, improving economics, and enhancing performance. Our mission focuses on eliminating non-productive time and building efficiency for completions through flexible commercial models and premium technologies, such as our field-proven Magnum SP™ gate valve. We prioritize safety, innovation, and quality, and we're expanding to meet evolving industry demands

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Manager to lead our quality assurance and control efforts. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of our Quality Management System (QMS), with a focus on frac specific equipment such as gate valves, tees, spools, crosses, and frac trees. This role is pivotal in ensuring our products and services meet rigorous industry standards (e.g., API, ISO 9001) while supporting our service-based model. You'll play a key role in finalizing our QMS documentation, driving audits, and fostering a culture of quality across fabrication, testing, and field operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep technical expertise in frac equipment, and gate valves, proven skills in developing quality documents, and a passion for service excellence in high-stakes environments.

Key Responsibilities

• QMS Leadership: Manage the full lifecycle of our Quality Management System, including finalizing documents (e.g., work instructions, inspection protocols, and supplier manuals) to achieve full certification readiness. Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans to ensure compliance with API Spec 6A, API Q2, ISO 9001, and client-specific requirements.

• Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance on the design, fabrication, testing, and maintenance of frac components, including gate valves, tees, spools, crosses, and frac trees. Review engineering drawings, material certifications, and non-destructive testing (NDT) results to verify quality and performance under pressure.

• Document Management: Read, interpret, and author high-quality technical documents, including procedures, inspection reports, failure analyses, and compliance records. Ensure all documentation is clear, traceable, and aligned with service operations.

• Team and Process Management: Supervise a small QA/QC team, including inspectors and technicians, providing training on best practices for field services and shop-floor quality checks. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and sales teams to integrate quality into service delivery.

• Supplier and Vendor Quality: Support the Vendor Manager in evaluating and auditing suppliers for frac components, implementing incoming inspection protocols to maintain supply chain integrity.

• Continuous Improvement: Analyze quality data (e.g., defect trends, customer feedback) to identify improvement opportunities, such as process optimizations for faster turnaround in service jobs. Lead root-cause investigations for any quality incidents.

• Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on industry regulations, safety standards, and emerging technologies in fracturing equipment, ensuring all activities mitigate risks in high-pressure environments.

Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, or related field) or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of QA/QC experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 3 years focused on hydraulic fracturing equipment and services.

• Deep technical knowledge of frac iron components (gate valves, tees, spools, crosses, frac trees) and related pressure ratings, materials (e.g., high-yield steel), and failure modes.

• Strong understanding of API Q2 standards for service quality management systems in the oil and gas industry.

• Proven ability to read and interpret complex technical documents, including P&IDs, weld procedures, and NDT reports.

• Strong writing skills for creating quality manuals, SOPs, and audit reports; experience with document control software (e.g., SharePoint, ETQ) preferred.

• Familiarity with service-based operations, including field deployment, rental fleets, and customer site audits.

• Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM), API Q1 Auditor, or Six Sigma Green Belt.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience implementing QMS in a startup or mid-sized service company, including transitioning to full documentation.

• Hands-on experience with pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, and API monogramming for frac trees.

• Proficiency in quality tools like FMEA, SPC, and CAPA processes.

• Knowledge of digital twins or IT for equipment monitoring in frac operations.

What We Offer
• Comprehensive benefits: Health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and relocation assistance if applicable.

• Opportunities for professional growth in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

• Flexible work options to support work-life balance.
