D'Leon Consulting Engineers is seeking a Construction Inspector in Seattle, WA.


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector with expertise in rail transportation projects to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting various stages of rail construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, regulatory standards, and safety requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of rail systems, infrastructure, and construction processes, as well as a commitment to quality assurance and safety.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of rail transportation construction projects, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and signaling systems, to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor construction sites for adherence to safety protocols, identify violations, and collaborate with contractors to implement corrective actions.
  • Review project documents, including plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs, to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including photographs and documentation of construction progress, quality, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address and resolve construction issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Verify materials, equipment, and workmanship on-site to ensure they meet project and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning activities for rail systems, including trackwork, signals, and power systems, to ensure proper functionality and safety.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), punch lists, and closeout documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings, including pre-construction and progress meetings, providing technical insights and inspection updates.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and other applicable standards and regulations.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of rail systems, infrastructure construction, and associated codes and standards (e.g., AREMA, FRA, FTA, NFPA).
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficient in construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate documentation and reports.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and commitment to promoting a safe work environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various project sites as required.
