You will find we offer more than the basics to create an inclusive and dynamic work environment at our various locations.

Purpose:

The Derivative Operations team is responsible for managing all operational aspects of Athene's derivative investment and hedging strategy.

We are seeking a highly technical Business Systems Analyst with experience in fintech and derivatives technology to support the design, enhancement, and integration of trading and post-trade systems. This role serves as the bridge between business stakeholders, vendors, and technology teams, translating complex derivatives workflows into detailed system requirements, functional specifications, and process improvements.

The role also includes select Technical Product Manager responsibilities such as helping prioritize enhancements, managing delivery scope, and aligning technology solutions to business objectives. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of derivatives lifecycle events, data flows, system interfaces, and enterprise application delivery.

Accountabilities:

  • Partner with trading, operations, risk, finance, compliance, and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements.

  • Translate derivatives business processes into Feature definition, process maps, data mappings, interface specifications, and user stories.

  • Analyze front-to-back trade workflows including trade capture, confirmation, valuation, settlements, collateral, margin, reconciliations, and reporting.

  • Create detailed feature definition, gap analyses, use cases, and workflow diagrams.

  • Work closely with development (in-house and vendor) and QA teams to clarify requirements, validate technical solutions, and support system implementation.

  • Define and document source-to-target mappings, reference data requirements, field-level transformations, and integration logic across upstream and downstream systems.

  • Support enhancements and production issues involving APIs, batch processing, trade feeds, market data, and reporting pipelines.

  • Participate in system testing, SIT, UAT, and defect triage.

  • Perform impact analysis for system changes across trading platforms and pos-trade ecosystem.

  • Identify opportunities to improve Product efficiency across derivatives processes.

  • Assist in defining and maintaining a delivery roadmap for system enhancements and business-critical technology initiatives.

  • Help prioritize backlog items by balancing business value, technical feasibility, regulatory needs, and operational risk.

  • Partner with stakeholders and engineering teams to support release planning, scope definition, and feature prioritization.

  • Track delivery progress, dependencies, and risks, and communicate status updates to business and technology leadership.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 4+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, preferably in fintech, or financial services technology.

  • Strong knowledge of derivatives products such as swaps, futures, options, forwards, or structured products.

  • Solid understanding of the derivatives trade lifecycle and associated operational and system processes.

  • Experience documenting system requirements, functional specifications, data mappings, and integration points.

  • Strong understanding of SQL, relational databases, data analysis, and system interfaces.

  • Experience working with APIs, file-based interfaces, message flows, and enterprise system integrations.

  • Familiarity with SDLC, Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.

  • Experience supporting prioritization, roadmap planning, or cross-functional delivery coordination is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across business and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with trading platforms, risk systems, collateral platforms, or post-trade processing systems.

  • Familiarity with interest rate, credit, FX, or equity derivatives.

  • Working knowledge of FIX, FpML, SWIFT, XML, JSON, or other financial messaging/data standards.

  • Experience with data lineage, reconciliation logic, exception handling, and control frameworks.

  • Exposure to cloud-based platforms, data warehouses, or real-time event-driven architectures.

  • Experience supporting regulatory, audit, or financial controls initiatives.

  • Prior exposure to product backlog management, roadmap support, or feature delivery ownership in a technical environment.

Success in This Role

A successful candidate will combine the precision of a Business Systems Analyst with the delivery mindset of a Technical Product Manager. They will be able to break down complex derivatives workflows into precise system requirements, partner effectively with technical and business users, and help guide the prioritization and execution of technology solutions that improve reliability, scalability, and control.
