Job description

Description Under the direct supervision of the Park Managers and Park Supervisor, this position is responsible for keeping park property, including the fields, grounds, playgrounds, trails, track, bleachers, and restroom facilities clean and safe for patrons. Examples Of Duties Maintain and improve park facilities including parks, pavilions, trails, courts, athletic fields, splash pad, and other park amenities. Conduct trash and litter removal at parks and trail sites.

Complete special requests including moving furniture, staging for events, and other items as assigned. Work special events, including setting up and tearing down tents, tables, signage, and AV equipment; in addition to assisting in event operation. Maintain and improve athletic fields and facilities; including but not limited to mowing, landscaping, repairs, and maintenance.

Maintain and improve trails; including but not limited to pruning, litter removal, campsite abatement, and hazard mitigation. Maintains park equipment and facilities in good condition. The duties listed above are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed.

Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age and meet the following criteria. Requires a Class D Driver's License valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and good driving record.

Successfully complete a criminal background check. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be able to work mandatory overtime for Fourth of July and Fall Festival special events. Must be able to work mandatory overtime for snow removal functions as needed.

Operate a variety of trucks and other motorized equipment. Perform a variety of journey-level trade work such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, and others. May be required to work overtime to assist with additional park maintenance and special event needs throughout the year.

Additional Desirable Qualification: Bi-Lingual (English and Spanish) speaking individuals are preferred.
