Four County Electric Jobs (NOW HIRING)

 THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

AGE

Minimum of 18 years of age.

2.

PHYSICAL CONDITION 

Must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade with or without reasonable accommodation.  Applicants who reach employable status must successfully pass a drug screen test before placement in the field.

3. 

DRIVER'S LICENSE

Must have a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.

4. 

RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION

You must have reliable transportation to get to the construction site and from job-to-job.

5. 

OSHA 10 SAFETY

The OSHA 10 Safety Training for the Construction Industry certification is required for all workers.

** Note that you may submit a CW application prior to obtaining this certification. However, be advised that you must obtain the OSHA certification before you are able to start work. If you wish, you may complete this training online at: www.careersafeonline.com. Be sure to complete "OSHA-10 Hour for Construction Industry." There is a $59.00 online fee.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE PROGRAM:

Work -  A CW is required to work for an electrical contractor on various construction projects.

Cost -   Each worker will have to purchase their own hand tools (list will be provided).

Each worker will join the Local Union #494. There is a one-time initiation fee and quarterly dues you will be required to pay AFTER you are hired.

Each worker will be required to apply for a Registered Electrician License. You will apply for this license AFTER you are hired with a contractor. The cost for this license is $35.00.

License - WI State Law requires that anyone who performs electrical wiring must have a State of WI Electrical License. As a CW you will be required to obtain and keep current a State of WI Electrical License. The License type designated for CW's is the Registered Electrician License. The initial fee for the License is $35. The License will also be required to be renewed annually based on original issue date

The renewal requirements are as follows:

1. The License holder must obtain a minimum of 24 Continuing Education Units(CEU's) annually before the License is scheduled to expire. In order to obtain these CEU's the license holder must attend courses/seminars approved for WI State Electrical License CEU's specific for your license type. These course/seminars are available at The Milwaukee Electrical JATC(MeJATC). The license holder may also attend courses/seminars outside the MeJATC, it is the license holders responsibility to verify the courses qualify for WI State Electrical CEU's for the proper license type.

1. Pay a renewal fee of $35 to the State of WI annually.

This is will be your license and you alone will be responsible for keeping it current or you will be unable to work.

COMMERCIAL - Office Buildings, Hospitals, Schools and Shopping Centers

INDUSTRIAL - Small Machine Shops, AC/Delco, Briggs & Stratton, and Rexnord 

Bending conduit/pulling of wire and cable/lighting fixture installation/digging a trench for cable or conduit/installing Romex or B.X./wiring & setting of service switch gear/mounting and wiring transformers/reading blueprints

Stage of construction- open walls, no windows, unsealed roof

Weather - heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, dampness

Cleanliness - mud, dust, debris, water

Noise - tools, equipment, mfg.  Lines

Heavy Lifting - large conduit, large cable, cartons of material 

In the electrical construction trade, the majority of work is done above the ground.  This work is performed using ladders, scaffolding and power lifts.  If you have a fear of heights, the construction electrician program is not for you. 

When placed with a contractor, you can expect to consistently work anywhere in the 4 county area.  This area includes Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, and Ozaukee counties. You may also be asked to work in other locations in other parts of south-eastern Wisconsin.
