Metallurgist

Job Summary                                                                                                                                    

Responsible for all metallurgical processes supporting company goals.  Communicate established and evolving goals and objectives of Management to the workforce.  Responsible for all metallurgical issues and processes.  Responsible for enforcing safety policies.  Metallurgical quality of all products and metallurgical hold issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strong presentation/interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of machines and equipment relevant to department
  • Must acquire general knowledge and exposure to all production operations and administration of the company
  • Must possess and demonstrate leadership ability to include conflict resolution, teamwork, policy adherence, legal aspects, promotion of company philosophy, respect for workforce, positive attitude, dependable, fair and ethical treatment of employees
  • Needs to be able to conduct team meetings and give presentations
  • Must acquire knowledge of safety policies and procedures for the company

Preferred Education/Qualifications/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Metallurgical or Material Science
  • Must acquire general knowledge & exposure to all production operations and administration of the company
  • Must be willing to learn, possess and demonstrate leadership ability including conflict resolution, teamwork, policy adherence, promotion of company philosophy, respect for workforce, positive attitude, be dependable and be fair and ethical to fellow employees

Travel Requirements 

  • Needs to be shift, plant and department mobile

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Possibility of managing a crew of employees

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Expected to learn to conduct team meetings and give presentations

 

 

Language, Communication, Planning & Organizational Skills

  • Must have strong oral and written communications skills
  • Must have ability to work independently to plan & organize

Work Environment

  • The position of Metallurgist would primarily be out in the plant environment with an office location
