What is a founder product designer?

Founder Product Designers are professionals who play a dual role in startups or new ventures, acting both as the founder and the lead designer of a product. They are responsible for shaping the product vision, user experience, and design strategy from the ground up. This role requires a blend of entrepreneurial skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of user needs. Founder Product Designers often oversee everything from initial concept and prototyping to user testing and final product launch. Their unique position allows them to directly influence both the business and design aspects of a company.

How does a founder product designer typically interact with engineering and business teams in an early-stage startup?

As a Founder Product Designer in an early-stage startup, you’ll closely collaborate with both engineering and business teams to translate product vision into tangible user experiences. You'll often participate in strategic discussions, prioritize feature development based on user feedback and business goals, and work hands-on with engineers to iterate quickly on prototypes and product releases. The environment is highly cross-functional and fast-paced, requiring adaptability, proactive communication, and a willingness to wear multiple hats. This close collaboration ensures that design decisions align with technical feasibility and market needs, and often offers opportunities for significant influence on the overall product direction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a founder product designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Founder Product Designer, you need a strong background in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, proficiency in prototyping, and a solid understanding of product strategy, often supported by a degree in design or related field. Expertise with design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with agile product development frameworks are typically required. Vision, entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication, and collaboration skills help set exceptional candidates apart. These capabilities are crucial for creating innovative products that align with business goals and deliver real value to users in a startup environment.

Job description

We're building the operating system for presence — giving relationship-driven professionals back the in-person hour that every digital channel is quietly making more valuable and more scarce.

The Digital Channels Are Drying Up. The Room Isn't.

Whole professions run on relationships — wealth advisors, brokers, dealmakers, the people whose business is won across a table, not through an inbox. For a decade they had it both ways: build the relationship in person, and let digital channels do the reach. Email, ads, cold outreach, the feed.

Those channels are declining now, and they're declining together. Response rates fall, costs rise, attention thins — everywhere at once. The correlated decline of digital is quietly repricing the one thing that still works: being in the room.

But presence doesn't scale the way a send blast does. You can be at one table, on one night, with one group of people. The most valuable hour in the business is also the hardest to manufacture — rationed by time, logistics, and whoever happens to have the bandwidth to pull it together. And knowing who to gather is half the battle — the person who could change everything is often someone you'd never have thought to invite. Getting them in the room is the other half.

We think that's solvable now in a way it wasn't even two years ago.

Coram — Latin for “in one's presence” — is the operating system for that hour.

It learns who actually moves your business forward — including the people you'd never have thought of — then does the work to get them in a room together: the reason to gather, the timing, the invitations, the logistics, the follow-through. The instinct of a world-class connector paired with the tireless coordination of a chief of staff, running for every relationship you're trying to build — so the scarce in‑person hour becomes something you can build a business on.

As Founding CEO, you'll co‑found Coram alongside our AI Builders and Partners — going from idea to seed funding in 12–18 months, supported by our proven process and shared resources. You'll own the vision, lead discovery and validation, and shape the product and the company from the ground up.

This is a co‑founder seat, not a role you slot into. The right partner is already itching to build something in this space and wants an engine underneath them to move faster than they could alone.

What We're Looking For

Right now, we're especially looking for a founder who has grown a business through relationships — someone who has sold in the rooms that matter and knows how to gather the right people into them.

  • You’ve sold and grown in relationship‑driven B2B — you know that in these worlds the deal is won in person, and you’ve felt firsthand how much harder every digital channel has become
  • You know how to gather — you can design and host the kind of gathering people rearrange their calendars for, and you understand that who’s in the room is the entire game
  • You feel called to found — with or without us, building a venture is your clear path forward
  • You resonate deeply with the mission — building AI for human flourishing, especially around presence and real relationships, is work you’d do anyway
  • You’re fluent in AI’s practical uses — you don’t need to be technical, but you should at least be a genuine power user
Who We Are

Sprout AI Studio is founding Relational AI ventures — technology designed to amplify genuine human bonds, not simulate them. We partner with visionary founders to build AI that deepens real relationships and human flourishing in an increasingly digital world. Our founding team pairs decades of proven commercial success with a redemptive vision for how entrepreneurs can build what the moment demands.

Coram is one of our ventures, and we’re looking for the founder to build it with us.

Why Build with Us

Building a venture is hard. Throw in AI plus a redemptive vision and it’s harder still. Many entrepreneurs toil with ideas and spin their wheels for years. Our aim is to reduce years to months by surrounding you with the right people, process, and technology to launch a venture with lasting impact.

We remove the typical friction of starting up so you can focus on building something transformative. Think of us as your operational co‑founder, bringing the full stack of resources to go from concept to market. Each venture receives pre‑seed capital and hands‑on support, including:

  • Deep technical expertise — datasets, reusable components, and engineering muscle that give you a real head start
  • Partnership with Praxis — to design your venture with redemptive imagination
  • Full studio team support — across product, engineering, design, and operations
  • Access to aligned capital — investors who value both returns and impact
  • The combined Sprout & Praxis networks — for mentorship, distribution, and growth
Program Structure

We typically start with a one‑to‑three‑month engagement to collaborate on searching, shaping, or validating the idea, depending on your stage. You’ll lead customer discovery and test the core hypotheses with our support. Success in this phase leads to venture funding and comprehensive studio support through launch — where we help you build your MVP, win early customers, and raise your seed round.

Our Culture

We’re builders and innovators at heart, exploring how technology can be applied redemptively rather than accepting the status quo. We set audacious targets while keeping a posture of humility. We balance high standards with grace, knowing that building ventures takes iteration and learning. Above all, we’re looking for mission‑driven founders who see AI as a transformative tool for human flourishing.
