Job Summary

Plans, develops and organizes the activities of the clinical staff, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality health care.

Essential Functions

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.

  • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other activities related to direct patient care. Fields and directs clinical telephone calls.

  • Participates in the assessment of clinical staffing needs by maintaining a master work schedule, adjusting staffing levels and forecasting staffing needs.

  • Develops and conducts orientation and in service training for clinical staff.

  • Develops, implements and maintains emergency preparedness plan.

  • Serves as chief liaison between the clinical staff and physicians.

  • Assists with development and maintenance of quality improvement by reviewing incident reports, patient complaints and suggestions, current practices and actions taken. Develops and conducts programs for enhancing patient satisfaction.

  • Monitors local, state and federal regulations affecting operations and assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of appropriate policies and procedures.

  • Contacts vendors for repair or routine service of medical equipment.Forwards proposals/quotes to Office Supervisor for approval.

  • Maintains adequate levels of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.

  • Responsible for adherence to DEA, state health department, and other regulatory agency policies and procedures for ordering, dispensing, storing, and disposing of pharmaceuticals.

  • Oversees physician's office schedule.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned

  • Experience - Two (2) yearsof experience in clinical field of certification.

  • In South Carolina, if certified as a Medical Assistant, completion of medical assistant training program from one of the following is required:

    • Graduate of a medical assisting education program accredited by the CAAHEP, ABHES, or any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.

    • Completion of a Career and Technical Education Health Sciences Program approved by the South Carolina Department of Education.

    • Military Training: Completion of a medical assisting program provided by a branch of the United States Military.

    • Registered Apprenticeship: Completion of a medical assisting United States Department of Labor-approved Registered Apprenticeship program.

    • Employer-Led Training: Completion of a training program delivered by a health care employer that aligns with a nationally accredited certification exam.

    • Completion of the Prisma Health Certification Institute (PHCI) Fast Track Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • Certification or licensure in one or more of the following: Radio-logicTechnologist (ARRT), OR- Limited Practice Radiologic Technologist, OR- General, Medical Laboratory Technician, OR- Certified Surgical Technician, OR Holds a current LPN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an LPN in the state the team member is working, OR- Registered Respiratory Technician, OR- Medical Assistant certification including: CMA (AAMA); RMA (AMT); CCMA(NHA); NCMA (NCCT); RMA (ARMA); NRCMA (NAHP); or RMA (AAMP).

  • Certification must be maintained throughout employment in role. Human Resources may waive certification for incumbents who are unable to maintain certification due to their assignment within a physician practice setting.

  • If an LPN team member working in this position obtains RN licensure, Prisma Health will accept RN licensure for a limited time until the team member can be placed in an RN position. Team members should immediately notify their manager and Talent Acquisition if they are scheduled to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam or have obtained RN licensure.
