Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Resource Geologist to support our U.S. West Region. This position requires an individual with broad mineral exploration experience and proven technical competencies to support our mining sector.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mineral exploration and resource estimation solutions to support AECOM's mining consulting team covering mining lifecycle services from discovery to closure. We are looking for someone to participate in multi-disciplinary team projects, who can support mining projects in their area of expertise, and are willing to travel to remote locations for short periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, analyze and interpret exploration data using commonly used database programs and geostatistical methods.
  • Build exploration and resource models at a high level for project due diligence and at a detailed level for mineral resource reporting.   
  • Public reporting of exploration targets and/or mineral resource estimates as Qualified Person or Competent Person in accordance with NI 43-101, S-K 1300 and JORC Code regulations, as applicable. 
  • Assist in desktop planning, supervision, and evaluation of mineral exploration programs.
  • Mentorship of resource geologists.
  • Assist with exploration and mining project proposals for new and existing clients.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Geology of related field and 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Registered Professional Geologist (PG) license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills are important.
  • Authored all or part of a Technical Report as Qualified Person or Competent Person.   
  • Diverse backgrounds in mineral exploration, mine geology, geologic modeling, and resource estimation.
  • Advanced level understanding of applicable QA/QC and geostatistical methods.
  • Advanced level experience using geologic modeling software with preference given to Leapfrog and MinePlan experience.         
  • Willingness to work and travel up to 15% to remote project locations.
  • Understanding field-level exploration and mining project risks.
