Instructional Designer - Intermediate - Fort Huachuca AZ

Tipping Point Solutions, Inc is seeking an Instructional Designer - Intermediate for a local position supporting the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence (USAICoE) on-site at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. The Instructional Designer will provide support through the Commandant to the Director, Training Development Division Requiring Activities (RA).

Job Summary

Creates engaging and effective customized learning products using sound instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies. These products include learning objective documents and assessment plans/strategies in support of resident training, remote/virtual learning environments, and blended learning. Reviews approved instructional methods to determine the best fit based on learning objectives, available time, and instructor-to-student ratios. Ensures educational structure, accuracy, appropriate tone for the audience, and consistent language throughout all documentation. Designs detailed content outlines for learning scenarios/vignettes within the ADDIE Development Team (ADT). Designs effective learning activities that align with instructional goals. Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SME), Training Developers, project leads, program managers, and stakeholders to validate that final products meet intended learning and training objectives. Develops both formative and summative assessment plans/strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Provide instructional design and training development support following the Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate (ADDIE) process.
  • Develop lesson plans that include properly scaffolded terminal and enabling learning objectives in collaboration with SMEs.
  • Ensure instructional integrity and educational effectiveness of all training materials.
  • Apply adult learning principles and learner-centric strategies in lesson design.
  • Design performance and/or knowledge based, measurable assessment items aligned with learning objectives and critical tasks. Collaborate with SMEs and project team members within the ADDIE process.
  • Adhere to accepted templates, formatting guidelines, style guides and IBSTPI Instructional Designer Competencies.
  • Compile materials and implement Just-in-Time Training (JITT) events for SMEs and course personnel related to design functions as needed.
  • Communicate effectively within the framework of an Army training culture.
  • Identify e-learning opportunities and provide collaborative feedback to the Learning Innovation Branch as needed.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required and directed by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Clear initial Background check before start.
  • Must be able to receive Interim Secret within 3-6 months and receive/maintain a TS/SCI within first year.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an educator in a certified teaching discipline/Military Instruction.
  • Experience designing resident/in-person learning programs, activities, and curricula using a variety of modalities to enhance learning.
  • Completion of at least 12 semester credits focused on educational research, learning theory, education technology, instructional design, or other related education themed courses. Courses focusing on the administration or fiscal requirements of education related organizations do not count towards the credit requirement.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
  • Experience as a professional military instructor.
  • Experience addressing adult education needs in resident/in-person learning environments.
  • Familiarity with the ADDIE model (commercial or military application).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of Bloom's Taxonomy
