Job Description
The Unconventional has a Chinese Mandarin language requirement for an Associate Language Instructor for In-Person language training in Augusta, Georgia near Fort Eisenhower (formerly Fort Gordon) area.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Deliver language instruction based on curriculum designed to develop and improve foreign language listening, reading, speaking and writing skills as measured by the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and/or Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).
  • Provide tailored instruction in listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills to supplement existing curriculum based on student(s) needs as well as to ensure regional and culture subjects are integrated, using modern communicative methodology.
  • Possess computer skills to organize data and learning material as well as take attendance, review and make daily annotations of student's learning, grades, homework, behavior, and submit weekly progress reports.
  • Maintain a positive and professional environment as you navigate the course material and facilitate the students' learning.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in language and cultural education.
  • The Unconventional will provide you with a laptop and all access needed for this class instruction.
  • Measurable past performance of improving students speaking and listening capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of customs and cultural components pertaining to the target language common to its region of predominate use.
  • Native language capability.
  • Practice customs and culture common to the target language and its region of predominate use.
  • US Citizenship

English Language Qualifications:
  • Completed formal study of the English Language and achieved the score indicated on any of the below:
  • At least ILR level 2 as measured by DoD test.
  • At least proficiency level 2 or Advanced-Low (ACTFL) on an OPI.

Target Language Qualifications:
  • Possess general professional proficiency (a language rating of ILR level 2+ or ACTFL Advanced-High) or higher in the specified foreign language.
  • Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) or 2-skill OPI from the DLIFLC.
  • An interview certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
  • Defense Language Proficiency Test.
