About the Role
Formulation Scientist will be responsible for formulation needs across the product portfolio to drive the best total value proposition for the company, in addition to supporting product scale up at contract manufacturers. The role will be responsible for evolving our product formulation process to help commercialize products with a focus on efficacy, quality, sustainability and cost. This is a key role in commercializing innovation and great products at Blueland. The ideal candidate has a strong formulation knowledge of creating format innovation, aptitude for critical thinking, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and meticulous attention to detail. This role reports to the Chief Innovation Officer.
Responsibilities
  • Provide thorough leadership and execution of the Company’s strategy across the current product organization with the ability to manage and influence decision making to ensure supply and achieve the company’s goals
  • Work closely with the Chief Innovation Officer to bring products from concepts to commercialization
  • Scouting new technologies or chemistries for innovation team to incorporate into formulations 
  • Understanding of household cleaning chemistry, consumer feedback and competitive trends to recommend formulas
  • Deep passion for hands-on formulation development work in our Boca Raton, FL at Blueland innovation center
  • Formulating Products to bring to commercialization in Household Cleaning & Personal Care Categories
  • Continue to optimize current products and line extensions
  • Work efficiently across the organization to support company business plans and the product assortment calendar
  • Collaborate with Brand leadership, Regulatory & Sustainability, Procurement, Supply Chain, Process Engineering, and our suppliers to drive innovation, formulation optimizations, and product quality, cost optimization opportunities across the product portfolio
  • Partner with cross functional teams on SKU productivity, product launch strategies and execution
  • Establish strategic partnerships with suppliers, manufacturers, and other industry experts to develop new products or improve on existing products
  • Support sourcing new suppliers for our expanding supply chain & secondary supply source 
  • Assist in leading the company towards sustainability efforts
  • Support and maintain current and future Intellectual Property
Qualifications
  • BS in Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering or in a related field
  • 4+ years of Formulation, Household Cleaning and/or Personal Care experience
  • Strong understanding of Household Cleaning Chemistry
  • Bench Top in Lab skill is a must
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong strategic, analytical thinker with outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about solving new and complex challenges
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team
  • Be able to travel 5-10% of the time
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule out of our lab in Boca Raton, Florida
The salary range for this position is $110,000-145,000 per year.
