Registrar Student Employment
Salary: $12.00- $13.00
I. Position Purpose
The Student Employee in the Registrar’s Office provides essential clerical and customer service support to ensure the smooth and efficient daily operations of the office. This position assists in the maintenance, organization, and confidentiality of academic records in accordance with institutional policies and applicable privacy regulations.
The Student Employee performs a variety of general office duties, including phone and front desk coverage, while maintaining a consistently positive, professional, and customer-focused demeanor. This role delivers courteous and respectful service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors, ensuring inquiries are addressed promptly and routed appropriately. In addition, the position supports special projects and routine administrative tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness and integrity of the Registrar’s Office.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
• Process documents for electronic student files, including scanning and accurately naming paper and microfiche records for both current and former students, ensuring compliance with institutional recordkeeping standards and confidentiality guidelines.
• Provide general clerical support, including phone coverage and front desk reception.
• Deliver professional and courteous customer service to students, faculty, staff, and members of the general public.
• Assist with Registrar’s Office projects and other administrative tasks as assigned.
• Greet visitors warmly and respond to questions in a helpful and timely manner.
• Answer incoming phone calls, provide requested information, and take detailed messages as needed.
• Respond to email inquiries promptly and professionally.
• Perform campus errands as assigned.
• Utilize the Hocking College website and electronic systems effectively to support office operations.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.
III. Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
• Must be currently enrolled as a full-time Hocking College student.
• Must be a second-year student.
• Must meet federal requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
• Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
• Due to the Registrar’s Office management of selective admission file requirements, students enrolled in or intending to pursue the Associate of Science with Dental Hygiene intent, Associate of Science with Nursing intent, Dental Hygiene, or Nursing programs, and Athletes, are not eligible for this position.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Professional demeanor with a positive, customer-focused attitude.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with professional email communication.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Willingness and ability to complete all required training and professional development assigned by the supervisor, Human Resources, or the College.
