Position Overview:
The Foreman - Forge Shop Inspection provides direct supervision and leadership to production crews in a unionized, incentive rate manufacturing environment. Acting under the direction of the Forge Superintendent, this role oversees daily forging operations, enforces safety standards, and ensures product quality. The foreman coordinates closely with Supply Chain, Maintenance, Quality Control, Final Operations, and Engineering to support efficient production of high-quality steel forgings while maintaining strong employee relations and consistent process control.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of Employees: Direct, schedule, and oversee forging personnel on 1st shift, including training, coaching, and performance management, under the guidance of the leadership.
  • Product Oversight: Monitor forging operations in a high-volume, incentive rate environment to ensure production targets are met while maintaining product quality and efficiency.
  • Process Monitoring: Oversee forging processes and equipment performance, escalating major concerns to leadership.
  • Safety Leadership: Enforce strict adherence to all safety policies, conduct regular safety checks, and maintain a culture of safety in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Quality Control: Ensure forged products meet required specifications and coordinate with Quality Control and Engineering to resolve nonconformances.
  • Cross-Departmental Communication: Collaborate with Supply Chain, Maintenance, QC, Final Operations, and Engineering to support production flow and resolve operational issues.
  • Employee Development: Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to production crews to enhance skills and performance.
  • Problem-Solving: Assist in root cause analysis for production and quality issues, supporting corrective and preventive action efforts.
  • Process Improvement: Monitor department performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports using Microsoft Office and plant systems, providing updates to leadership.

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervision role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of heavy industrial steel-based production processes required; hands-on experience in stamping, press operations, forging hammers, and/or casting highly preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership in industrial settings.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 quality standards preferred.
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Office Suites, including Excel required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized, industrial environment.
  • Written and spoken fluency in Latin American Spanish and English preferred.
