Job description

Overview
The undergraduate student will assist the College of Forestry & Wildlife Environment property managers with projects on Auburn University land in the Lee County area.
Responsibilities
  • Cruise timber and collect forest inventory data.
  • Mark boundary lines and assist with field data collection.
  • Enter and manage field and project data.
  • Support forest road maintenance and weed control efforts.
  • Assist with prescribed fire operations.
  • Participate in invasive species management activities.
  • Help maintain AU forest lands and general property upkeep.
  • Travel to properties such as MOT and Crooked Oaks to help host events and tours.
  • Clean and organize facilities including the MOT pavilion, forestry tool shed, and forest products storage shed.

Qualifications
  • Enrolled student at Auburn University.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Tree ID knowledge
  • Knowledge of operating farm equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, bush-hogs, drip torches
  • knowledge of timber cruising

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Tree knowledge
  • Knowledge of farm equipment
