Key Responsibilities
Research & Strategic Foresight
  • Monitor and analyze publications, reports, economic indicators, and databases to identify signals, emerging trends, and strategic opportunities

  • Conduct comprehensive company, market, economic, and geographical research to support business development and positioning

  • Perform in-depth competitor analysis and market assessments across architecture, design, and built environment industries

  • Apply scenario planning and futures methodologies to anticipate market shifts and identify short and long-term implications

Insight Development & Qualitative Analysis
  • Synthesize information from multiple sources into clear, actionable intelligence using qualitative research methodologies

  • Identify thematic trends, patterns, and opportunities across multiple data sources

  • Create comprehensive market assessments and competitive intelligence reports that connect present realities to future possibilities
  • In collaboration with the Market Intelligence Manager, define and manage intelligence team deliverables and coordinate the dissemination of this information on an established cadence

Strategic Communication & Storytelling
  • Translate complex market intelligence into compelling narratives that resonate with internal and external audiences

  • Craft story-driven insights that illuminate the implications of emerging trends and future scenarios

  • Prepare intelligence briefings, presentations, and reports that weave data into meaningful narratives about market opportunities and challenges

  • Distill information into accessible, engaging formats-including executive summaries-that bring possibilities to life for firmwide audiences
  • Develop thought leadership content that positions the firm at the forefront of industry evolution

Methodology & Design Thinking
  • Apply design thinking principles to frame research questions, explore problems from multiple perspectives, and develop innovative analytical approaches

  • Collaborate with the Market Intelligence Manager to prototype and iterate on team deliverables

  • Develop systems for capturing and sharing knowledge generated

  • Ensure quality and analytical rigor across all deliverables while maintaining accessibility

  • Mentor junior team members on analytical techniques, qualitative research methodologies, futures thinking, and narrative development best practices

  • Stay current with industry trends, economic indicators, foresight methodologies, and analytical innovations

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Undergraduate or master's degree in marketing, Economics, Business, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Design Futures, Behavioral Change, Journalism or related field

  • 8+ years of experience in business intelligence, market research, strategic foresight, competitive intelligence, or economic research

  • Demonstrated experience with qualitative research methodologies and futures-oriented analysis

  • Strong background in synthesizing information from diverse external sources into forward-looking insights

  • Excellent written and verbal storytelling and communication skills

  • Experience in design, architecture, or creative industries preferred

  • Qualitative research: Deep expertise in thematic analysis, trend identification, and macro-level synthesis using qualitative methodologies

  • Strategic foresight: Proven ability to identify signals, anticipate future scenarios, and develop long-range market perspectives

Salary Range Information

At the time of posting this job advertisement, the annual pay salary range for this position is between $98,700 and $167,600 commensurate with qualifications and geographical location (Austin, Chicago, San Francisco).
