Job description

When clients are engaged in significant disputes, Control Risks provides expertise to assess prospects, investigate facts and support settlement. With 40 global offices, our experience in international markets and network of in-country contacts make us leaders in investigative analysis and complex problem-solving globally.

This role will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of our dispute support practice across the USA and Americas. The successful candidate will lead our engagement with clients, with the following responsibilities:

  1. Identifying and acquiring new client relationships for dispute support services - including business intelligence, investigations and technology support - in the USA, with a focus on legal counsel and litigation funders.
  2. Managing and growing relationships with existing law firm, corporate and investor clients of Control Risks with a focus on selling dispute support and investigations.
  3. Playing a lead role in developing our dispute support strategy with global senior colleagues and managing the delivery of dispute support mandates and complex project work.
  4. Leading our engagement with industry associations and other professional advisors to improve awareness of our brand and services.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Client management and business development

  • Identify and secure new client relationships through proactive business development efforts.
  • Manage and grow existing client relationships and ensure that we best meet our clients' requirements for dispute support work.
  • Ensure proposals focus on our clients' requirements and our ability to meet them, and that our proposals stay ahead of the market by incorporating clients' feedback and service innovation.
  • Represent Control Risks at dispute and litigation support focused events in coordination with global disputes strategic leadership.
  • Delivery of consulting excellence - maintaining and developing market leading position as leading dispute intelligence firm globally.

Brand and profile

  • Develop and maintain a significant profile in the investigations and asset tracing industry.
  • Develop our relationships with industry associations and professional advisors and evaluate the best events and networks to engage with, to raise awareness of our brand and services among dispute support professionals.
  • Identify additional sources of income and profile building opportunities for Control Risks in disputes and litigation support.

Practice management and culture

  • Lead and manage dispute support strategy across USA and Americas, including fostering the professional development of existing team members and identifying skills gaps in the team and addressing them through recruitment and/ or training alongside other colleagues.
  • Ensure that pricing, margins and value are understood in the team to ensure we capture lower and higher margin opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the regional Forensics and Technology teams and other service lines on global business development initiatives.
  • Commercial Management - driving operational efficiencies and margin improvement.
  • Project management - leading by example and setting best practice on the management and client deliverables.
