CYBER CRIME TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS

CYBER OPERATIONS & INCIDENT RESPONSE

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Inspector position reports to the FDLE Cyber Crime Technology and Telecommunications Division which is physically located at the FDLE Headquarters Building in Tallahassee. The incumbent in this position supports all functions of the Cyber Crime Technology and Telecommunications Division which includes operational support to the network intrusion investigations program, digital forensics services, statewide cyber program hardware/software purchasing and renewals, Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) programs, and the Cyber Division's cryptocurrency seizure program. The incumbent may also provide training and presentations to internal and external partners about the Cyber Division's programs, internet investigations, and/or cyber security best practices. The incumbent in this position will provide operational support to the seven regional Cyber squads, as needed.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Overseeing, coordinating and supporting the Division in developing and maintaining policies and procedures relevant to the needs of statewide and regional technical sections;
  • Assisting with the Division's procurement of software and hardware products
  • Researching new and emerging technologies that are critical to maintaining and utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technologies;
  • Coordinating and Facilitating Statewide training, software, and equipment for regional cyber squads
  • Participating in the discussion, development, revision, implementation, and follow-up of Program initiatives through meetings, conferences, and other forums with regional technical agents, managers, and Command Staff;
  • Providing guidance to Statewide Regional Squads on policy/procedure, conducting interviews, executing search warrants, Florida Cyber-crime statutes, etc; and
  • Participating in the discussion, development, revision, implementation and follow-up of Program initiatives through meetings, conferences and other forms with first line supervisors, mid-managers and Cyber Division Command Staff.

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Five years of sworn law enforcement or sworn investigative experience, one of which must have been in the capacity of a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
  2. College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for a maximum of three years of the required experience. 

 

NOTE: Experience as a Special Agent Trainee or a Probationary Special Agent does not count toward the one year of Special Agent experience.

 

SPECIAL NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrable experience in cyber investigations (ICAC, network intrusions, etc.) and/or digital forensics.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge or experience managing full-time law enforcement forensic/cyber services;
  • Knowledge in the maintenance and lawful deployment of computer hardware/forensic equipment;
  • Knowledge in leadership and management of cyber section;
  • Ability to present and instruct;
  • Ability to set up covert undercover networks, network architecture, wireless protocols, and Network storage devices; and
  • Ability to investigate cybercrime file sharing programs.

BASE SALARY:

  • $67,028.52

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
