Job description

Eagle Harbor, LLC is a Mission Support Services and Facility Support Services company providing support to government and commercial entities. Eagle Harbor is an 8(a) Program certified, Alaska Native Corporation (ANC)-owned, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB). We are a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, which is owned by Old Harbor Native Corporation. Our Corporate Headquarters is located in Anchorage, AK and our Operational Office is in Manassas, VA.
Qualified candidates will be expected to: (responsibilities)
  • Receives, examines, enters, and maintains physical evidence associated with firearms cases, using microscopy, measuring devices, photography and IBIS imaging techniques.
  • Assist firearms examiners in interpreting, analyzing and evaluating the results of IBIS and/or firearms examinations and preparing draft reports based on results.
  • Cleans and maintains firearms and examination related resources such as bullet recovery systems, ranges and tools.
  • Handle, operate and test fires a variety of firearms and ammunition following all safety procedures.
  • Assists firearms examiners with the inventory, preparation and examination of firearms evidence associated with complex cases.
  • Establishes and maintains outside sources for information concerning materials and items examined in IBIS casework.
  • Assists in other areas of the Forensic Science Laboratory, such as evidence control, instrument maintenance and administrative duties.
  • Conducts and completes assigned tasks with a level of independence requiring some guidance but not repeated in same or similar circumstances.
  • Produce basic analytical products and summarize all information in writing.
  • Conduct entries and perform image and correlation reviews on NIBIN equipment after receiving training from ATF or other authorized trainer.
  • Prepares evidence for shipping once all examinations have been completed and ensures all evidence containers are properly wrapped for return to submitting agent
  • Responds to inquiries as to status of cases and questions regarding proper procedures for submitting evidence to the laboratory
  • Perform image and correlation reviews.
  • Conduct entries and perform image and correlation reviews on NIBIN equipment after receiving training from ATF or other authorized trainer. If this task is required, the contractor must be able to successfully pass the competency testing for acquisitions and correlations review

Position Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License;
  • Ability to independently plan, analyze, summarize, report, and share information
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based computer applications and software
  • Must successfully complete and pass the ATF training requirements and applicable competency test for their respective duties delivered by Quality Programs within the time period as set forth by ATF if required
  • Must be able to recognize and use scientific terminology to deal with callers (such as equipment vendors, repair personnel, and customers) and in preparing scientific documentation and laboratory reports that are based on rough drafts or verbal instructions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional travel.

Minimum Education:
  • B.S. Degree from accredited college or university preferred. A combination of formal education, work experience and on the job training will be considered

Minimum/General Experience:
  • General experience with local, State, or Federal law enforcement is preferred

Clearances:
  • Must successfully complete the ATF clearance process
  • Must be willing to provide a DNA sample (if requested)
