Job description

As a Student Intern with Allana Buick & Bers, Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting engineers and project managers in various investigations of building failures and remedial design tasks. Your responsibilities will include handling smaller portions of larger projects, collaborating with senior staff, and contributing to tasks such as studying building conditions, identifying component failures, researching design solutions, and managing various aspects of the construction process.

Responsibilities

Assist engineering staff to:

  • Study existing conditions of buildings
  • Identify failures of building components and systems
  • Research and propose remedial design solutions
  • Prepare design documents, including drawings and specifications
  • Manage the bidding process
  • Prepare and administer contract documents
  • Inspect the construction of remedies
  • Research code requirements and manufacturer recommendations

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Pursuing a Master of Science (Bachelor's degree candidates will be considered) in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or related disciplines; an emphasis in structural engineering is preferred
  • Knowledge of roofing, waterproofing, or other building envelope systems is desirable
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Powerpoint), MS Project, and other Windows applications
