Job description

NOVA Engineering is seeking a Building Enclosure Field Technician for our Kennesaw, GA headquarters. This role will support building envelope and waterproofing projects through field testing, inspections, and documentation. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in outdoor environments, on ladders, and at heights. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in building envelope consulting, construction materials testing, or structural/enclosure systems evaluation.

Primary duties will include:

  • Performance testing of roofing, waterproofing, window and curtainwall systems and other building envelope components on new construction and existing facilities. Testing is generally in accordance with various ASTM, AAMA, TAS and ANSI standards.
  • Forensic evaluations and investigations on building enclosure and roof components suffering performance issues and suspected of failing.
  • Quality assurance site inspections relative to building enclosure and roof components to verify conformance with construction documents, manufacturer, and industry standards.
  • Review of construction documents including architectural drawings, shop drawings, submittals relative to the building enclosure.
  • Document field observations through detailed reports, photos, and field notes
  • Some in-state overnight travel may be required and occasional out of state overnight travel. The position will be predominately field located.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Education:

  • 1+ years of experience in: Building envelope, waterproofing, roofing, or construction inspection (OR construction materials testing or related field work)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with building enclosure systems such as wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs and waterproofing.
  • Experience with ASTM or AAMA testing procedures
  • Background in: Roofing systems, Waterproofing and below-grade system, and/or Exterior wall systems or facades
  • IIBEC certifications (e.g., RRO, REWO, REWC) strongly preferred
  • Infrared Thermography certification (Level I or higher) preferred
  • Familiarity with infrared thermography and moisture detection equipment
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
