Job description

Outpatient Psychiatrist for Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (F-ACT) โ€“ Valleywise Health Care System

District Medical Group (DMG) is well known as a respected leader in the healthcare industry in the Phoenix area, with a reputation for outstanding leadership, innovation and dedication to the patients and communities we serve. DMG is one of the largest physician groups in the Valley with over 450 dedicated physicians/APPโ€™s, supported by approximately 100 skilled professional/administrative team members.

DMG is actively recruiting for an outpatient Attending Psychiatrist for our adult F-ACT team located in a new outpatient clinic space on the campus of Valleywise Behavioral & Mental Health Center โ€“ an inpatient psychiatric hospital with an emergency department, in Maryvale, AZ.  ACT provides a full range of services to people with a serious mental illness (SMI) insurance benefit. ACT teams offer complete, community?based treatment to people in the most difficult situations.

About the Role

This is a full-time position on a multidisciplinary, recovery-oriented care team serving up to 100 patients, allowing for small caseloads and highly personalized treatment. The team is composed of:

  • Psychiatrist
  • Clinical Coordinator
  • Two Nurses
  • Medical Assistant
  • Case Management Specialists
  • Peer Support Specialist
  • Education & Employment Specialist
  • Substance Use Specialist
  • Housing Specialist
  • Two Administrative Team Members

The collaborative structure and limited caseloads support individualized, patient-centered, and recovery-based services.

Academic & Teaching Opportunities

This role includes a faculty appointment (for eligible candidates) with both the Creighton University School of Medicine โ€“ Phoenix and the University of Arizona College of Medicine โ€“ Phoenix.

Teaching is a strong and integral component of this position and includes:

  • Supervision and education of PGY-3 and PGY-4 Adult Psychiatry Residents
  • Teaching and mentorship of medical students
  • Active involvement in an academic clinical environment

 Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry, and must possess Arizona license prior to employment
