Founded in 1945 by A. D. West and M. E. Erickson, West Tree Service has been a trusted provider of Right of Way (ROW) maintenance services for utilities. We specialize in vegetation management for Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) like Entergy and OG&E, Cooperatives, Municipalities, and gas pipeline companies. Our services include tree trimming and removal, herbicide application, and mowing, ensuring a clear and manageable ROW for reliable utility services. Most of our management team and supervisors are certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), promoting professional arboriculture practices.

Bucket Truck Foreman Summary
The Bucket Truck Foreman is a strong leader who can manage a crew effectively, operate equipment safely, and oversee tree trimming and removal operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of projects while maintaining safety standards and delivering exceptional service to clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise a tree care crew in daily operations, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
  • Operate a bucket truck and other equipment to perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal work at various heights.
  • Assess job sites and develop work plans, including hazard assessments and site preparation.
  • Communicate clearly with team members, clients, and supervisors regarding project goals, safety protocols, and progress.
  • Ensure proper rigging and cutting techniques are used to prevent damage to property and ensure crew safety.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance on the bucket truck and other equipment.
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper arboricultural techniques and safe work practices.
  • Complete daily paperwork, such as job hazard analyses, work orders, and time sheets.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally on all job sites.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 2+ years of professional tree care experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or foreman role.
  • Proficient in the operation of bucket trucks, chainsaws, chippers, and other tree service equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of proper pruning techniques, tree removal methods, and rigging practices.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
  • ISA Certified Arborist or Tree Worker Certification (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds to shoulder height
  • Flexibility, including the ability to squat and bend
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to pull body weight up 20 feet and climb a tree
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme temperatures
  • Must not exceed weight limitations for hydraulic buckets
