Description:

The Senior Real Estate Loan Servicing Specialist works with Members to help them with their financial difficulties and analyzes each individual member collection situation to ensure benefit to both the Member and the credit union. In addition, is responsible for the entire foreclosure process including dispositioning OREO’s. This role will play a major part on the merger team and possesses the skill set to solve complex issues in innovative ways.


Business Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.*

*Based upon business needs, our positions may require working flexible hours.


This position is based in Anaheim Hills CA with the opportunity to work on a hybrid-remote schedule which consists of 2 days in-office and 3 days working remote from home.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of mortgage servicing experience (Foreclosure, short sales, deeds in lieu, etc.)
  • 3+ years' experience in collecting bad debts.
  • Experience conducting collection efforts on multiple loan products through all delinquency ranges and online collection system.
  • Working knowledge of bankruptcy proceedings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent.
  • 4+ years collections experience.
  • 2+ years prior credit union experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in all applicable MS Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication, human relations and negotiating skill.
  • Working knowledge of credit and collection laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated skills in collection, skip tracing, small claims, and bankcard and repossession skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of mortgage servicing including foreclosure, short sales, and deeds in lieu.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with manual and dialer collection call center environments.
  • Thorough grasp of pre-charge off and charge off recovery methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Makes collection phone calls, counsels Members with credit problems to help manage their debt, documentation, sending letters to delinquent accounts and following up within the assigned queues.
  • Compiles all documents to support the decision, gain approvals, and initiation action for eviction, short sale, foreclosure, or deed in lieu.
  • Compiles all documents to support the decision, gain approvals, and initiation action for forbearances, repayment plans and loan modifications.
  • Mails and follow up on all required notices regarding, eviction, short sale, foreclosure, deed in lieu, or modification.
  • Works with appropriate parties to resolve issues that may arise during the final phases of a sale in short sales, foreclosure auctions, and OREOs.
  • Liaison between third party mortgage servicing company and CU SoCal.
  • Files any/all claims within the applicable times, termination, and release of deed of trust, handles subordination requests, packages, and agreements.
  • Reviews delinquent property tax reports and works with Members to ensure timely resolution.
  • Receives, provides, and applies payoffs regarding consumer loan leases, 2nd TDs, HELOCs and 1st TDs in Symitar.
  • Updates the Credit Bureau utilizing the credit reporting codes in Symitar. Validate and update mortgage disputes in e-Oscar.
  • Develops or refine real estate loan servicing procedures to ensure efficient processes are in place.
  • Assists with all mergers due diligence including collecting, uploading, and labeling documents. Perform document review for lates fees, payment posting, and payment calculation. Collect paper titles for vehicle loans and balance. Perform various validations (system validation, post-merger validation, post-merger loan file maintenance, key reminder letter validation, and create validation reports), vendor management, document and converting all mortgage loans to third party mortgage servicing company in a timely manner.
  • Complete understanding and active application the C.A.R.E. 4 Guide expectations and the Brand Communications Standards Accountability Philosophy.
  • Must be able and available to work a “hybrid” schedule, per business operations requirement, as needed.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Pay Scale: Min. $27.12 / Mid. $34.31 / Max. $40.37 an hour
