How much do foraging jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 6, 2026, the average yearly pay for foraging in the United States is $65,465.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $57,000.00 and $64,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What professions make 200,000 a year without a degree?

In the field of foraging or related outdoor professions, earning $200,000 annually without a degree is uncommon. However, some high-earning roles such as successful foraging business owners, specialized consultants, or those with extensive experience and a strong client base can reach this income level. Typically, these roles require entrepreneurial skills, reputation, and sometimes certifications or licenses depending on the region.

How can I make 2000 a week working from home?

Foraging as a job typically involves collecting wild plants, mushrooms, or herbs, which usually does not generate such high weekly income. To earn $2000 a week from home, individuals often pursue high-demand freelance skills, remote sales, or online business ventures that require specific skills, certifications, or experience. Combining multiple income streams or scaling a specialized online service can help reach this income level.

What are the typical challenges faced by professional foragers?

Professional foragers often encounter challenges such as identifying safe and legal foraging sites, distinguishing between edible and toxic species, and adapting to seasonal changes that affect availability. Navigating land access and sustainable harvesting regulations can also be complex, requiring strong organizational and research skills. Additionally, inclement weather and physical demands make fieldwork both rewarding and at times strenuous. Staying updated on best practices and collaborating with chefs or food producers can help foragers maximize both safety and the quality of their harvests.

Can you make money foraging?

Foraging as a job involves collecting wild edible plants, mushrooms, or other natural resources, which can sometimes be sold to restaurants, markets, or directly to consumers. However, income from foraging is often seasonal and unpredictable, and it requires knowledge of sustainable harvesting and local regulations. Many foragers supplement their income with related skills such as identification, preservation, or guiding foraging tours.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Foraging position, and why are they important?

To thrive in foraging, you need strong plant and fungal identification skills, knowledge of local ecosystems, and often experience in botany or a related field. Foragers may use field guides, GPS devices, and sometimes require certifications in sustainable harvesting or food safety, depending on the end use. Excellent observation, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help in ensuring safe collection and effective collaboration with chefs, landowners, or suppliers. These abilities are essential to safely source high-quality wild foods, maintain ecological balance, and build trust with clients or partners.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Foraging as a job typically does not pay $4,000 a week; however, high-paying roles that may reach this level without a degree include certain sales positions, real estate agents, or skilled trades like commercial diving or specialized construction. Success in these fields often depends on experience, skills, and performance rather than formal education.

What is a Foraging job?

A foraging job involves searching, identifying, and harvesting wild food resources such as plants, mushrooms, and edible fungi. Foragers may work in industries like food production, herbal medicine, or environmental conservation. They need knowledge of plant identification, sustainability practices, and local foraging laws. Some foragers supply chefs, herbalists, or markets with wild ingredients, while others focus on education and guiding foraging tours.

Job description

Benefits:
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Training & development
  • Competitive salary

Sept -Nov with potential to return for Mar -Nov season (including Summer Programming).
https://www.coyleoutside.com/join-our-team
This position is for:
  • Flexible and internally motivated individuals with strong work ethic
  • Available for seasonal work
  • Individuals interested in approaching work with youth through Character Development
  • Those with the ability to work well in a team environment and support larger systems while performing creatively at individual assignments.
  • Candidates who are oriented toward service, making a difference, commitment and a capacity to make sacrifices for a greater cause. We consider it truly a privilege to do this particular work that the state and Oregon state voters founded.

Requirements:
  • 1+ year experience teaching outdoor skills OR
  • 1+ year experience conventional teaching with personal/other significant related outdoor skills experience

Coyle Outside is a 'Mobile' Provider for Outdoor School programs in the state of Oregon. These 3-5-day programs have us providing outdoor experiential education to public school students throughout Oregon. This position is both for candidates who are based near/in the Benton County Oregon area who can work locally OR also have the ability to travel. Fall 2026 Programs are predominately non-residential (multiple day-based field trip style - hours are typically 7:30 am - 3:30 pm).
Team members commute to or drive to and camp at program sites (typically amazing outdoor parks or camps) the day prior to program start to scout and prep the site and set up our lodging/camp with the ODS team. Programming involves Inquiry based teaching of outdoor skills lessons that we specialize in including Chemistry thru Fire Building, Habitat thru Shelter Building, Botany/Flora thru Foraging, Geography thru Navigation/Orienteering, Fauna thru Tracking, Woody Plants thru Wood craft, Fishing, Archery, Physics thru Traps, Naturalist Study through Observation/Interpretation etc. Other duties include physical set up and break down of lesson sites, pre briefing and de briefing, coordination and support of other assignments and logistics support.
This seasonal position can likely be supplemented with Fall, Spring and Summer full-time work (inquire upon interview). There are one-week trainings that occur in Corvallis prior to each season. We have a strong team culture and commitment to our mission, which is "The Preservation and Restoration of Outdoor Childhood".
The ideal candidate for this work
  • has experience working in teams
  • shares our organization's culture and mission to prioritize childhood
  • experience/competency in 2 or more of the content areas we cover (foraging, fire, tracking, shelter, cordage/knots, knife work, traps, navigation etc.)
  • experience teaching and working outdoors
  • is healthy and fit and can work outdoors in poor weather for extended periods
  • positive and solution focused

Most of our instructor team has life experience working in the outdoors and teaching/mentoring. Instructors are generally highly self-sufficient and comfortable problem solving unpredictable or unforeseen work events.
Compensation: $29.00 - $30.00 per hour
Adventure, Discovery, Inspiration First
We don't put safety first at Coyle Outside. That is said with trepidation as it seems our culture, especially around kids, increasingly values safety above all else sometimes. That leaves things like good judgement, relationship, trust, connection to come AFTER. What we see is that the world kids grow up in is increasingly sanitized of adversity and opportunities to experience failure/victory and to experience themselves as potential difference makers. We believe there is a distinction between discovery and 'learning' and that discovery changes a person forever. We believe that wisdom (as well as a beautiful, rich life) comes through failures, taking risks and from entering and passing through what is scary and uncomfortable.
Work With Us
To work here we want you to be up to something in life. We are looking for instructors who feel the need to make a difference as much as the need to have a paycheck. Our instructor team is expected to develop themselves as guides and mentors for our participants while also developing strong working relationships with co instructors that build a strong culture and keep standards high.
Many, if not most, of our programs have been the brainchild of or inspired by the initiative and talent of individual instructors whether that be our fishing and archery camps or our expansion to new states. Our instructors are self sufficient, autonomous and adventurous OR they are committed to developing themselves in these ways. The work is challenging and rewarding and instructors are at the same time highly independent and part of a larger culture.
We provide training in instruction approach, group and behavior management and technical outdoor skills. Our instructors work largely autonomously and with limited supervision and are confident and ready to be responsible. All instructors are on a first name basis with the founder/owner.
Year round we are looking for unique people who are ready to both stretch themselves and contribute to something larger
  • Make a difference for youth and impact their experience of themselves and what is possible for the future of their world
  • Commit to and explore the power of nature based experiential education
  • Challenge and develop your own personal and professional sense of adventure and self sufficiency/autonomy
  • Develop your own outdoor skills competency and/or use your developed passion/skills in an instructional role
