Job description

JUNIOR FOOTWEAR DESIGNER

The Junior Designer has 3-8 years of experience in footwear design or a related field.ย  An enthusiastic learner, the Junior Designer is willing to try new things and take on new challenges. They will work with the Design team to research competitive brands, marketplace shifts and runway trends to create seasonal color and material stories.ย  The Junior Designer will have design projects of their own, commensurate with their creative ability, passion and technical skill level.ย  Opportunity for growth as the Junior Designer proves their ability to create/communicate concepts in response to brand positioning/strategy, to work both collaboratively and independently, while exhibiting an understanding of the Clarks brand ID and target consumer.

What You'll Bring:

  • Shops the market throughout the season and utilizes resources like WGSN, social media and Business of Fashion to stay on top of marketplace trends.
  • Collaborating with Design Team, researches/identifies upcoming trends and themes and takes the lead to create seasonal stories conveying mood, compelling color and material toolkits and key silhouettes
  • Designs and develops 2-3 new constructions per season from sketch to last development to upper and outsole prototype working with Engineering and Materials Teams to drive innovation and meet commercial requirements of the brief.
  • Working with existing constructions, creates new upper design concepts to reimagine or reinvent as required to meet strategic goals.
  • Creates dynamic product concept boards to visually communicate design solutions and seasonal direction.
  • Participates in and contributes to team meetings, design reviews and presentations.
  • Meets all deliverable and timeline requirements according to business strategy and seasonal calendar.
  • Opportunity for travel for market research and new construction development.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent
  • 3-8 years of work experience in footwear design or related design field
  • Proven creative ability demonstrated through portfolio of work projects
  • Strong sketching and rendering skills
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills
  • Technical drawing skills a plus
  • Demonstrates drive, passion, enthusiasm
  • Receptive to constructive feedback and willing to learn
  • Takes initiative
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented, takes pride in doing quality work
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Strong time management skills: working to a deadline, working independently
