SEC Fantasy

Job description

Who is SEC Fantasy?

SEC Fantasy is the only app built for SEC fans, by SEC fans. While traditional fantasy football only cares about stats, we care about the culture โ€” the tailgates, the banter, and the deep-rooted rivalries. Our platform blends fantasy football, a sports stock market, mini-games, and solo competitions to capture what makes Saturdays in the SEC unmatched.

Weโ€™re looking for one high-energy Gator to be our Social Media Intern for the upcoming football season. If you live for Game Days in the Swamp and want real-world experience in sports marketing, experiential PR, and content creation, this is for you!

SEC Fantasy is built for all SEC fans. We strongly encourage students of every background, major, GPA, and experience level to apply. If you have a passion for sports culture, we want you on our team!

What Youโ€™ll Do

You will lead social media brand awareness, drive user acquisition, and execute creative activations across UF's campus ahead of and during the fall football season.

  • Content Creation & Sports Journalism: Capture high-quality photo and short-form video content during activations and game days for SEC Fantasy social channels.
  • Growth Metrics: Help drive user acquisition with a goal of 100+ app/website sign-ups.
  • Interaction: Plan and execute pop-up brand experiences, tabling events, and giveaways at high-traffic campus spots to capture content (Turlington Plaza, Plaza of the Americas, Gator Walk).

Portfolio & Professional Development

We treat this position as an incubator for your career. Youโ€™ll work directly with our User Acquisition and Public Relations Manager to build industry-ready portfolio pieces.

We gladly support students seeking academic credit for this internship and will work with your advisor/department to fulfill all program requirements upon request since this is an unpaid role.

By the end of the semester, you will have:

  • Two Full Case Studies: Fully documented campaign plans, execution strategies, and key metrics to showcase on your website or portfolio.
  • Resume Coaching: Guidance on translating your campaign results into high-impact, quantitative resume bullet points.
  • LinkedIn & Personal Branding Support: Mentorship on how to present campaign data, content, and experiential marketing work to future employers in sports, agency, or corporate settings.
  • Support System: Weโ€™re here to support your growth, not burn you out. With weekly workload check-ins, we make sure you're never overwhelmed. If exam week hits hard, weโ€™ve got your back and will take tasks off your plate!

Who You Are

  • A True Gator: You know UF campus life inside and out and are available on campus before all home Gator football games.
  • A Storyteller & Strategist: You understand sports media, know what makes content go viral, and love testing new ideas.
  • Self-Driven: You can take an idea, get it approved, and commit to it.
  • Results-Oriented: You're excited to look at performance data to figure out what works and scale it.

Fall Timeline

  • Aug 25 โ€“ Aug 30: Onboarding, brand training, and strategy brainstorming.
  • Aug 31 โ€“ Sept 28: Campaign testing, initial campus activation rollout, and tracking data.
  • Sept 28 โ€“ Dec 5: Scaling top-performing campaigns and building the off-season brand toolkit.
  • Dec 11 โ€“ End of Program: Final reporting, portfolio delivery, and off-boarding.
