Job Description:
Job Title: Sports Information Intern
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Athletic Director
Position Summary: The Sports Information Intern will assist the Sports Information Specialist in promoting and publicizing the college's athletic programs. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports media relations, content creation and event management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Media Relations: Assist in writing and distributing press releases, game previews and recaps to local media outlets.
• Content Creation: Develop content for the athletic department's website and social media platforms, including photos and videos.
• Statistics and Records: Help maintain accurate statistics for all sports teams and update historical records.
• Event Coverage: Attend home games and select away games to provide live updates, take photographs, and gather post-game quotes. Familiarity with live-streaming or willingness to learn preferred.
• Publications: Assist in the production of media guides, game programs and other promotional materials.
• Special Events: Support the planning and execution of special events such as banquets, award ceremonies and press conferences.
• Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative duties as needed, including data entry, filing, and answering inquiries.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably with a major in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Photography and videography skills or interest a plus.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and content management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
