Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant- Peach Fellow (Program & Operations) serves as a central support for the MFA in Creative Writing program and Peach literary journal. The Fellow manages program logistics, communications, and event coordination while contributing to journal production and editorial workflows. This position offers hands-on professional development in literary publishing, program administration, and the national literary community.
Responsibilities
Program & Operations - 40
Coordinate logistics for the Visiting Writers Series, including scheduling, venue setup, hospitality, and faculty and guest communications.
Support planning and coordination of the Business of Writing Forum and related professional development programming.
Maintain and update program records, including student publications, award recognitions, placement outcomes, and alumni activity.
Develop promotional materials, print, digital and manage outreach across program platforms.
Event Documentation & Outreach - 25
Attend program events and produce documentation for institutional records and public communications.
Draft and share faculty-approved content across digital platforms, including social media and program newsletters.
Journal & Production Support - 25
Assist with Peach production timelines, including copyediting coordination, layout communication, and distribution logistics.
Support submission management workflows during active reading periods.
Contribute to AWP conference preparation, including coordination of promotional materials and logistics.
Other Duties as Assigned - 10
Provide administrative support to the Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Additional Documents" attachment in application.
Maintain academic good standing. If a student's grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.
This position will work in-person 19 hours per week.
Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.
Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
Proposed Salary
Minimum $10.00 / hour
