SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a work-study student position responsible for assisting in the maintenance, issuance, collection, inspection, repair and replacement of football equipment and the upkeep of equipment-related facilities. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
A student must be awarded and accept a "Work-Study Permit" for each semester the student will be working.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Performs repetitive manual work for various physically demanding tasks, including lifting, sorting, organizing, and carrying equipment, loading and unloading vehicles, standing and walking for extended periods of time. Position also requires the ability to work outdoors in exposure to various weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Manages the issuance, collection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of football equipment for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  2. Maintains accurate equipment inventory records and tracks equipment assignments to student-athletes.
  3. Conducts equipment fittings and ensures proper sizing, adjustment, and safety of protective equipment.
  4. Maintains equipment rooms, locker rooms, storage areas, and related facilities in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
  5. Monitors equipment condition, removes damaged or unsafe items from service, and coordinates repairs or warranty claims as needed.
  6. Prepares, distributes, and manages equipment required for daily football practices, workouts, and team activities.
  7. Assists with home game operations, including field setup, sideline preparation, equipment distribution, and postgame breakdown.
  8. Prepares, packs, transports, loads, and unloads equipment for team travel and coordinates equipment needs for away contests.
  9. Maintains professional working relationships and collaborates with football staff and other athletics departments to support program operations.
  10. Supports football operations and performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the football program.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
This position requires a flexible schedule based on the football program's operational needs.
Work hours may include: early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, home football games, away-game travel, preseason camp, postseason competition, and football camps and clinics.
Extended hours should be expected during the football season and other high-demand periods.

A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
