Job description

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company throughout the Southeast with a commitment to creating quality culinary concepts from scratch. This standard was upheld through the expansion into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services by providing elevated concessions and premium offerings to collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, & more.
We are currently seeking an Executive Chef for University of Georgia (UGA) located in Athens, GA to oversee the premium culinary department at Sanford Stadium (Football), Foley Field (Baseball), and Stegeman Coliseum (Basketball). This role will also support other venues within the Gwinnett district.
University of Georgia is a large campus in the heart of Northern Georgia where the Bulldogs reign supreme. Football games bring in 65,000 adoring fans all wearing red to support their 2021 National Champions.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and effectively managing all culinary duties to ensure that each event is executed flawlessly from start to finish.
    • Football: Premium Hospitality
      • 73 suites, 4 clubs, President’s Suite; 3,570 guests per game
    • Basketball: Premium Hospitality
      • Courtside Club;, 350 guests per game
    • Baseball: Premium Hospitality
      • Dugout Club & Press Club; 225 guests per game
  • Total execution of culinary operations including planning, ordering, menu creation, and execution of event day food
  • Maintain the highest level of food quality, presentation, and consistency
  • Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume
  • Lead to ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen/food service areas
  • Develop, implement, and communicate creative menu items that adhere to the Proof of the Pudding standard
  • Manage financial goals and food cost while maintaining and tracking the culinary budget
  • Purchase all food, dry goods, necessary materials, and kitchen equipment, while managing POs and event budgets
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, internal and external email communications, and purchasing procedures
  • Responsible for training, accountability, and scheduling of the culinary staff
  • Working with the Sales and Operations team to drive sales for the company and expertly, creatively, and flawlessly execute each event
  • Create ongoing interdepartmental communications to ensure full understanding of BEOs and event logisitics
  • Create new and innovative menus as business demands
  • Assist with the hiring and onboarding of new team members
  • Creating and maintaining the overall moral of the kitchen and culinary team
  • Support venues across the Gas South Region and POP as a whole

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Culinary Arts Degree or experience in related position 
  • 3+ years in a lead culinary role, experience in stadiums and/or large scale catering events is necessary 
  • Must be a natural leader with a fire in their belly to lead and love what they do. 
  • Must be a chef who thrives on creativity, customer satisfaction and flavor profiles 
  • Must have impeccable integrity for the business, the community and the Proof of the Pudding Team. 

Specialized Qualifications: 

  • Excellent listening and communication skills 
  • Ability to run a business as if you own it 
  • Exceptional knife skills, knowledge of a variety of culinary techniques, and the ability to teach these skills  
  • Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 30 lbs. 

Work Environment 

The work environment for this position will be event operations and working out of the Football Stadium or similar venues. This position will often move throughout campus and stadium grounds on different terrains.

Physical Demands: 

  • Prolonged periods of being in one place, moving through an event space, and traveling from venue to venue. 
  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items. 
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.

Position Salary & Benefits: 

  • This is a salaried position with a yearly performance bonus. The salary range is between $100,000-$120,000.
