Job Title: Culinary Warehouse Supervisor
Department: Culinary Operations
UGM considers every position one of ministry and a vital and valued part of our team. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Culinary Warehouse Supervisor oversees the receiving, storing, rotating, distributing, and reporting of all food products to provide adequate food supplies to each UGM facility. Serve as the onsite supervisor for the daily operations of the Food Warehouse and the Spokane based Food Donation Truck while also leading a team of volunteers, community service guests and work clients.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: Leadership
  • Train, empower, and equip all employees on UGM's culture and core values and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • All direct reports know and participate in the Outcome Based Management Process (PDPs, SMART goals, one-on-one's). One-on-ones with direct reports are conducted at least once a month with a focus on coaching, staff development and ensuring position expectations are met.
  • Inform the Production Chef of all critical activities including staff, operations, and programming in your area of responsibilities.
  • Account for all food donations and report on the DSR (Daily Service Report); complete report by the end of the first week of the month.
  • Implement and maintain WA Department of Health, 2nd Harvest, USDA and OSHA standards.
  • Communicate weekly with Food Donation Truck drivers regarding scheduling, routes, driver's aids, and changes.
  • Coordinate with Coeur d'Alene Food Warehouse manager weekly regarding food distribution needs.
  • Ensure that the Food Warehouse is operated in a manner that best stewards the resources donated the UGM.
  • Attend culinary department and required UGM meetings.
  • Require yearly reapplication from Ministry Partners, review with Production Chef before approval.
  • Schedule and facilitate forklift certification training once per quarter.

Key Result Area #2: Warehouse Essential Duties
  • Properly train direct reports on the handling of food and non-food donations and coordination with Thrift Store drivers.
  • Make certain that all interactions with donors are conducted with hospitality, thanking each donor, and sharing how donations impact UGM.
  • Collaborate with Rescue and Recovery teams to ensure work therapy clients are adhering to UGM program requirements.
  • Receive, sort and store products in their appropriate areas, or set aside for redistribution to UGM Ministries or prequalified ministry partners.
  • Collaborate with UGM Culinary staff weekly to meet distribution needs of UGM facilities.
  • Create, post, and supervise weekly pull and to-do sheets.
  • Schedule and manage the redistribution of products to Ministry Partners according to distribution schedule.
  • Weigh and count all donations properly; report on the DSR daily.
  • Ensure all non-food items are properly stored and loaded on the donations truck to transfer to the thrift stores at scheduled pick-up times.
  • Submit Requests for Maintenance (RFM's) when required.
  • Record cooler and freezer temperatures twice daily.
  • Trucks, forklifts, and tools are stored, maintained, and kept in safe working condition, inspected, and logged weekly.
  • Maintain exterior work environments in clean and safe condition, including sweeping, pressure washing, trash and snow removal.
  • Inspect, clean, and sanitize interior and exterior storage areas and coolers weekly to maintain safe working and cleanliness standards.
  • Conduct weekly touch down meetings with direct reports and volunteers.
  • Ensure PADMAN goals are created for all work therapy clients and entered into the Waypoint database monthly, update throughout the month.
  • Complete any other duties as assigned.

Key Result Area #3: Volunteer Involvement
  • Ensure each volunteer has a current job description.
  • Track and maintain volunteer time logs and report to Director of Volunteers monthly.
  • Ensure volunteers are signing in, always wearing appropriate clothing and nametags.
  • In partnership with Production Chef and Director of Volunteers, ensure there is adequate number of warehouse volunteers to complete assigned duties.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Grounded and committed Christian: able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry to the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill.
  • Active member of the body of Christ, in accordance with the Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
  • Strong sense of calling to minister while utilizing managerial and warehousing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - written, verbal and instructional.
  • Intermediate computer skills using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience at effectively building, developing, and leading warehouse teams.
  • Available to work weekends, special events, holidays and at various UGM locations as needed.
  • Must possess trustworthy, teachable, and reliable traits.
  • Model appropriate boundaries and strong work ethic.
  • Valid Driver's License and insurable by UGM's insurance company.
  • The ability to pass DOT physical, Food Handlers Card, Second Harvest and Forklift Certification.
  • Criminal background check is required.
  • 5 years of sobriety, if in recovery
  • 3 years living outside of UGM facility, if applicable.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
  • Work is both in and outdoors with exposure to variable conditions and need to be able to withstand extreme changes in temperature, occasional smoke, steam, heat, and exposure to chemicals - continuously.
  • Requires finger/hand dexterity to operate machinery, equipment, tools, etc. - continuously.
  • Ability to hear, see, taste, smell and speak clearly - continuously.
  • Working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction, and mental illness - continuously.
  • Exposure to seasonal weather conditions, and may require sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building -continuously.
  • Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about multiple facilities - frequently.
  • Able to work eight hour-plus shifts with the ability to stand, climb stairs, ladders, carry objects, sit, or walk for extended periods of time - occasionally.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry 25 lbs. - continuously.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry 50 lbs. - frequently.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Four (4) years of warehousing experience or applicable experience - preferred
  • Previous management experience - preferred.
