Food Scientist/Food Technologist (3rd Shift)Schedule

3rd Shift: Monday-Friday, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM

Rotating Saturdays as business needs require

Shift Differential: 20% upon conversion to full-time employment


Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Food Scientist to support product development, quality systems, and manufacturing operations within a regulated food production environment. This individual will contribute to new product innovation, formula optimization, quality investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across research and development, quality assurance, process improvement, and manufacturing support.


Key ResponsibilitiesResearch & Product Development
  • Support the development of new food products and enhancement of existing formulations
  • Apply food science principles to formulation, ingredient functionality, and product optimization
  • Assist with product innovation initiatives and line extensions
  • Evaluate ingredient performance and identify opportunities for formulation improvements
Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Perform batch record reviews and support product release activities
  • Participate in CAPA investigations, deviation management, and root cause analysis
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety, and quality requirements
  • Review quality data and support corrective and preventive action implementation
Product Testing & Evaluation
  • Conduct physical, chemical, and sensory evaluations
  • Execute shelf-life and stability studies
  • Analyze testing results and provide recommendations regarding product performance and quality
  • Monitor critical quality attributes and product consistency
Documentation & Technical Support
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records and development documentation
  • Create and revise product specifications, SOPs, and technical reports
  • Support regulatory and customer documentation requests
  • Ensure documentation is maintained according to quality standards
Manufacturing & Process Support
  • Assist with pilot-scale studies and production scale-up activities
  • Support process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams during product trials and commercial production
  • Monitor production outcomes and recommend process enhancements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Prepare samples for customer evaluations, product demonstrations, and internal testing
  • Partner with Quality, Operations, Procurement, and Commercial teams to support project objectives
  • Assist with ingredient sourcing initiatives and supplier evaluations
  • Review raw material documentation and assess ingredient suitability

Required QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
Certifications
  • PCQI Certification (Required)
  • HACCP Certification (Required)
Experience
  • 1-4 years of experience within food manufacturing, food science, quality assurance, or product development
  • Experience performing batch record review, CAPA management, deviation investigations, and quality system activities
  • Exposure to food manufacturing or cGMP-regulated environments preferred
  • Experience supporting product development, process improvement, or manufacturing operations is highly desirable

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
