The Food Safety Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the EHS Manager by ensuring that food safety regulations and standards are consistently upheld across all food service operations. This position involves monitoring food handling practices, conducting inspections and audits, maintaining documentation, and assisting with staff training. The specialist contributes directly to a safe and compliant environment, enhancing guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Safety Monitoring: Observe food handling processes throughout the facility to ensure compliance with safety protocols at every stage of production and service.
  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct routine inspections and audits of food safety practices. Identify and report non-conformities, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Training Support: Assist in training production and operational staff on food safety procedures, regulations, and best practices.
  • Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, audits, training sessions, and corrective actions for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Corrective Actions & Continuous Improvement: Support the identification of areas for improvement and help implement solutions to enhance food safety performance.
  • Incident Support: Participate in investigations of food safety incidents and contribute to timely resolution and prevention strategies.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed about current food safety regulations, industry trends, and emerging best practices, and apply this knowledge to daily operations.

Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in food safety or a related industry (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA).
  • Must be able to pass a ServSafe Food Handler and Manager Certification course within 2 months of hire.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
