We are seeking a QA Microbiologist to support a well-established food manufacturing facility in Ontario, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced microbiology professional who enjoys hands-on laboratory work and is available to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced production environment.


QA Microbiologist – Food Manufacturing (Temporary Assignment)

Location: Ontario, CA
Pay: $30.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Assignment: Temp


About the Opportunity: This position is ideal for candidates between positions, consultants, recent graduates with relevant food manufacturing experience, or professionals seeking a temporary opportunity to expand their experience within the food industry.

What You'll Do


As a QA Microbiologist, you will play an important role in ensuring product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance by performing microbiological testing and supporting quality assurance initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, finished products, potable water, and environmental samples.
  • Conduct aseptic laboratory analyses to verify compliance with product specifications.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and sanitation verification testing.
  • Accurately document laboratory results using laboratory logs and JD Edwards.
  • Support product disposition activities, including product holds, retesting, and product release according to established procedures.
  • Assist with investigations involving out-of-specification (OOS) results and implement corrective actions as directed.
  • Coordinate environmental and finished product sample submissions to third-party laboratories and maintain complete testing records.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory and ensure testing supplies remain adequately stocked.
  • Support Research & Development with microbiological testing of new products as needed.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, Sanitation, and R&D teams to support food safety and quality initiatives.
  • Follow all GMP, HACCP, FSMA, SQF, and company food safety policies and procedures.


Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, Biology, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 1–2 years of microbiology laboratory experience, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of aseptic laboratory techniques and microbiological testing procedures.
  • Experience performing environmental monitoring is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Experience

  • Food manufacturing or food processing environment
  • HACCP, GMP, FSMA, or SQF experience
  • Experience working with laboratory information systems or JD Edwards
  • Experience assisting with quality investigations or corrective actions
