IAP World Services, an Intrepid Global Solutions company, is a recognized leader in Facilities Management and Operations in support of Defense, Intelligence, and National Security missions

Under a major Intelligence Community contract, IAP operates and maintains facilities, systems, and associated grounds across Virginia and Maryland. Services provided include comprehensive facility operations; project management for renovations, minor construction, and major equipment repairs; engineering, construction, and operations support; custodial and grounds maintenance services; environmental, safety, and occupational health support; food services; motorpool and logistics operations; and physical and technical security services.

As the Bio-Retention Pond Inspector, you will support environmental compliance, stormwater management, and sustainable infrastructure operations. This position is responsible for the inspection, evaluation, and maintenance oversight of bioretention ponds, rain gardens, bioswales, and related green stormwater infrastructure to ensure regulatory compliance, functional performance, and long-term sustainability.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct routine and special inspections of bioretention ponds, rain gardens, bioswales, and stormwater best management practices (BMPs).
  • Evaluate system performance, including infiltration rates, vegetation health, sediment accumulation, erosion, and structural integrity.
  • Identify maintenance needs and document deficiencies, corrective actions, and recommended improvements.
  • Verify compliance with federal, state, and local stormwater regulations, environmental permits, and Chesapeake Bay protection standards.
  • Coordinate with facilities, environmental, and landscaping teams to support maintenance, repairs, and lifecycle planning.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and photographic documentation in accordance with IC documentation and security requirements.
  • Support sustainable design, installation, and maintenance practices consistent with low-impact development (LID) principles.
  • Provide technical guidance related to green infrastructure performance and long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Adhere to all Intelligence Community security, safety, and operational protocols.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Chesapeake Bay Landscaping Professional (CBLP) Level 1 - Basic Foundation in Sustainable Design, Installation, and Maintenance, with a specialty in rain gardens, bioswales, and bioretention (required).
  • 4+ years of closely related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience inspecting, maintaining, or managing bioretention systems or green stormwater infrastructure.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of stormwater BMPs, LID practices, and watershed protection principles.
  • Ability to interpret site plans, as-built drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting.
  • Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
  • Experience working within federal facilities or secure environments.
  • Familiarity with EPA, state, and local stormwater regulations and inspection standards.
  • Background in environmental science, landscape architecture, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience using digital inspection tools, GIS, or asset management systems.
