The mainmissionof the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, since its founding, has remainedto teach the Word of God as found in the Christian Bible (Romans 10:13-15),edify and equip the saints to be committed followers of Jesus Christ and His teachings (Ephesians 4:11-13), and present an authentic representation of traditional, Biblical Christianity (Philippians 1:9-11). Mission Statement:To meet physical needs for Food and Shelter to bring those with spiritual needs the Hope that is found in Jesus Christ.

Job Overview:This role is vital in the runningofthe Sheltersof the City Rescue Mission.TheSupervisoroverseesshelter staff for the duration of the shift, handlingboth staff and guestconcerns and questions as they arise.The Supervisor must be a multi-tasker who is detail oriented with strong administrative and organizational skills. TheSupervisormust also be able to complete tasks independently and accurately while staying calm under pressure.


Expected Schedule-1st Shift-Full Time- 7am-3pmWeekends and Holidays asscheduled(Rotation).8-hourshifts.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conduct and oversee shelter processes, data entry, paperwork, and any discipline issues that arise on the shift.
  • Oversee and ensurethe shift runs according to the planned schedule and procedures
  • Be available for other staff members who may need assistance or direction over the course of their shift.
  • Maintain familiarity and oversight of the day-to-day issues concerning theshelter
  • Fieldphonecalls and handle all communication with outside resources for the shift
  • Ensure proper and complete data entry in allguesttracking software and systems
  • Have a good understanding of shelter policies and procedures and execute them properly
  • Maintaingood communicationwith thedepartment,utilizingall available tools
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as scheduled
  • Show the love of Christ, be ready to share the gospel, and pray with guests regularly

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma-Required
  • Proficient use of the Microsoft Suite-Required
  • 2+ Years Supervisory Experience-Preferred

Environment

The ShelterSupervisorwill need to be able towork in a noisy anddistraction-filledenvironmentas needed.TheSupervisorstask will occasionally require them to work in low temperatures,high temperatures, outdoor elements (e.g.rain, wind, snow),and small/enclosed spaces.

Physical Requirements-

Thebelow listed abilitiesare required tobe able to complete the essential duties of the role:

The ShelterSupervisorwill need to be able to constantly navigate stairs-quickly and proficiently navigatingup to 3flights of stairs whenever needed.They will constantly need to be able to lift10lbs in all directionsand will occasionally need toliftup to 30+lbs in all directions.They will need to be able to complete30 minutes of physically taxing work without a break and stand or walkfor1hourwithout sitting down.They will occasionally need to complete2hours of physically taxing work withoutabreakand be able tomove with hastefor 500ft.

The ShelterSupervisorwill need to be able to constantly complete visual scans of indoor/outdoor areas in varying levels of light. They will need toconstantlycomplete tasks with repetitive motions that include thewrists,handsand/or fingers. They will need to be able to constantly communicate clearly with others to exchange information.
