Job Summary

Chartwells K12 is hiring a Dining Services Manager to oversee multiple K12 schools within our client's ISD in Springfield, MA.  Working for the leadership team, you will be a primary point of contact for the school administrator.  In this key operations role, you will be responsible for foodservice, lead the teams within your assigned zone, and manage the overall operation.  You will provide planning and direction within the assigned schools to achieve operational and financial goals in a dynamic environment, comply with all applicable regulations, maintain strong client relationships, and fulfill our mission to feed kids.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees dining services operations across 8-10 schools within the Springfield school district.
  • Interacts with client and represents Chartwells K12 food services team in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Assists the Dining Director with profit and loss and budgeting as it pertains to your dedicated zone.
  • Adherance to recipe compliance and providing top quality food.
  • Assists in the responsibility for all food service-related activities and be primarily involved in meal services in a school setting, including quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and all facility-related activities.  
  • Involved in the rollout of new culinary programs in conjunction with the Chartwells K12 marketing and culinary team.
  • Assists with the preparation of quarterly reports for client presentation.
  • Works with marketing and culinary department to increase sales by innovations and food quality.
  • Communicates with the culinary department to ensure the food programs reflect the vision of the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of food service management experience.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Table service and catering experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Bilingual (Spanish English) HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills with P&L oversight.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • ServSafe Certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
