DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as the Product Manager for the NanoDrop™ and Quant-iT™ portfolio, where you will define and execute product strategy for industry-leading nucleic acid and protein quantification solutions. You will drive the growth and innovation of a portfolio that combines NanoDrop UV-Vis spectrophotometers with Quant-iT™ fluorescence-based assays, enabling researchers to achieve accurate, reliable sample quantification across genomics, proteomics, and cell biology workflows.
In this role, you will develop and execute portfolio strategies aligned with customer needs, market trends, and business objectives. You will gather Voice of Customer (VOC) insights from academic, biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical, and industrial laboratories to identify unmet needs and translate them into product enhancements, workflow solutions, and new product opportunities.
You will collaborate closely with R&D, Applications, Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Commercial teams, and regional business leaders to define product requirements, prioritize development initiatives, develop go-to-market strategies, and successfully launch new instruments, assays, software features, and workflow solutions. You will also partner across Thermo Fisher divisions to integrate NanoDrop and Quant-iT products into broader molecular biology and genomic sample preparation workflows.
As the business owner for your portfolio, you will analyze market trends, customer adoption, competitive positioning, and financial performance to drive sustainable growth and improve portfolio profitability. You will develop business cases, pricing strategies, product positioning, and commercialization plans to ensure the portfolio remains competitive and differentiated in the evolving life sciences market.
Your work will directly impact scientists around the world by delivering innovative quantification technologies that improve confidence in downstream applications, including PCR, qPCR, NGS, cloning, protein analysis, and cell biology research.
This is an onsite position.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Advanced degree with 6+ years of experience, or bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience in product management, marketing, applications, or commercial roles within life sciences, analytical instrumentation, or laboratory products
  • Preferred fields of study: Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline; MBA is a plus
  • Experience managing scientific instrument and/or reagent portfolios, preferably involving molecular biology, nucleic acid analysis, protein quantification, or laboratory workflows
  • Strong understanding of UV-Vis spectrophotometry, fluorescence-based quantification, nucleic acid and protein analysis, and molecular biology workflows
  • Demonstrated success developing portfolio strategies, product roadmaps, and commercialization plans for scientific products
  • Experience gathering and translating Voice of Customer (VOC) insights into product requirements and business opportunities
  • Strong analytical, financial, and strategic planning skills, with experience developing business cases, go-to-market strategies, and evaluating market opportunities
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through new product development and product lifecycle management
  • Proven success launching hardware, consumables, software, or integrated workflow solutions
  • Strong understanding of the competitive landscape for life science research instrumentation and consumables
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across a global, matrixed organization
  • Experience collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Field Applications, Service, and regional commercial teams to drive product adoption and customer success
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, including international travel
  • Experience with CRM systems, product analytics, and digital marketing tools is preferred
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation, cloud-enabled software, or connected instrument ecosystems is a plus
  • Passion for enabling scientific discovery through innovative technologies that improve research productivity and experimental confidence

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Oregon is $103,100.00-$140,000.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
