COOK – FOOD PRODUCTION – MISSISSAUGA

An international company specializing in food production is currently seeking several cooks to support its operations in Mississauga.
We are looking for reliable, independent, and motivated candidates with solid experience in restaurants or catering who are interested in working in a high-volume food production environment. This is a long-term opportunity with ongoing staffing needs throughout the year.
You must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
JOB CONDITIONS
  • Permanent part-time position
  • Hired directly onto the company's payroll
  • Wage: $19.57 per hour
  • Shift premium of $1.00 per hour between midnight and 5:00 a.m.
  • On-call assignments with opportunities for long-term employment
  • Ongoing staffing needs throughout the year
  • Day shift: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Evening shift: 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Weekend availability required
  • Free meals provided during shifts
  • 30-minute meal break
  • Two paid 15-minute breaks
  • Locker, changing room, and shower facilities provided
  • Protective equipment provided (lab coat, gloves, hairnet, and beard net)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Production Team, the Cook is responsible for preparing meals for large-scale operations. The successful candidate will ensure recipes, quality standards, and food safety requirements are consistently met while contributing to the smooth execution of daily operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare meats, fish, pasta, vegetables, side dishes, and garnishes according to established recipes
  • Perform cooking tasks such as roasting, frying, steaming, grilling, and baking
  • Prepare food by washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, mixing, portioning, packaging, and labeling products
  • Ensure recipes and quality standards are followed at all times
  • Assist with daily menu preparation and production planning for upcoming shifts
  • Maintain food production records
  • Monitor food temperatures during preparation and service
  • Clean, sanitize, and organize workstations
  • Inspect equipment and report any malfunctions or issues
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other production teams
  • Follow HACCP procedures, food safety standards, occupational health and safety regulations, and company policies
  • Assist with the preparation of special menus based on operational requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant or catering environment is required
  • Experience with Halal, Middle Eastern, or Indian cuisine is a strong asset
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Good command of French or English
  • Ability to read and understand English
  • Knowledge of HACCP standards is an asset (training provided if required)
  • Strong teamwork, organizational, and time management skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable with excellent attendance
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Availability to work weekends
REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid work permit, permanent residency, or Canadian citizenship is required
  • "Pending" or "approved but not issued" immigration statuses will not be accepted
  • Safety shoes are mandatory
  • Must provide valid identification, work authorization documents, and a void cheque during onboarding
  • Start date subject to completion of mandatory health and safety training
