Job description

Main position objectives

The inspector will be responsible for the inspection of every die before it leaves the machine shop. They will also assemble all dies to make them fully functional.  All required dimensional features will be inspected with the proper inspection equipment. These dimensions will be recorded and stored electronically. A visual inspection will also be performed so that all dies shipped to the customer meet all Gala standards.

Position description - Tasks, responsibilities, competencies

  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Use the most effective and efficient methods to measure each die.
  • Select the proper measuring instrument for the feature being measured.
  • Dimensionally and visually inspect the product to ensure the product meets all print and customer requirements.
  • Enter data in a data base.
  • Assemble the die after inspection, adding all components specified for that particular die.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the manager.

The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventive manner within his scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damages to people, facilities, assets, material and environment actively

Work Environment

  • Work in this position is in a machine shop environment. The employee may be exposed to airborne particles, metal shavings, sharp cutting tools, and moving mechanical parts. PPE and hearing protection are required at all times.

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, or bend.  The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
  •   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour 

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
